Upon reflection, I feel that at the time of my previous post I had yet to fully apprehend the situation and and draw together my thoughts on the matter. In light of this, I would like to add the following statement:

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccckkkkkkkkkkk

EDIT: So, er - is it any good?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...

First, the Casino is featured in a national newspaper. It even mentions the words 'Electrocoin' (well, they spelt it 'Electorcoin')

Now Darius Burst? I just can't work the place out. My only suggestion is that maybe it was going to be loked at Funland, but they offered it to the Casino instead rather than ship it back. Just a guess, my knowledge of the arcade industry is slim to none.

Apparently (according to secret Mr X) The owner of Casino has a good relationship with Taito. That may have something to do with it. Regardless, I'm planning to visit soon as pos. I'd really like some 4 player action on this.

Holy shit! I spend three days at a game development conference and we've been in a natiopnal paper and got Burst! What the hell!

I can't wait to get down there. I'm going to try and go this weekend.

And what about next week.

Who's about?

And yeah - I'm happy to move teams. I'll look at me PMs tonight...

When you do, maybe we should host the 'Pathetic-Compared-To-Skykid's-Seaside-Matsuri Spadgy's-London-Micro-Meet' at my gaff.

Wow... where did they even manage to put that cab in Casino? Is it drawing more people in or just the usual crowd? And opinions, opinions :)

(By the way all this talk of the Owner, the Engineer and Mr X makes me wonder if there's a dramatis personae for Casino somewhere!)

Spadgy: with Chi signed up both teams now have at least 5 players, so unless you really want out, the teams should be fine as they are :)

Met JDE at the new, world famous "Leisure Casino at Totenham Court Road' and tried some Darius Burst. £1 a credit is expensive, but the sound is AMAZING. Arse quaking bass and ear shredding explosions. Then tried out the two player mode, which was even more fun. Tuesday is when we're going to sample 4 player. It's going to be messy, confusing and awesome :D

I don't know, but it's a shady, clandestine circle. To know the key players, you have to lay low for years, waiting, and always watching your back.

(Burst is upstairs BTW. Makes a nice change from the dingy basement.)

Darius Burst is pretty awesome!

It draws a crowd because it's BLOODY LOUD. Whenever you get to a boss the cab rumbles loudly.

Up to 4 players can combine their burst attacks into one mega ultra KAMEHAMEHA OF DEATH, and you can share power ups. Power ups have a proximity around them where anyone in that circle gets the power up when it's collected.

The bosses are designed so players can be on either side of them at the same time and face different patterns (2 people fighting the tail and 2 the head etc.).

The special galaxy capture mode is awesome, in this you do levels with set restrictions e.g. no extra power ups, no burst attacks etc.

The sticks and buttons are excellent quality.

The screens are slightly different brightnesses to each other so in true casino style, they're a bit shit :)

Also worth pointing out it's £1 a credit as opposed to 3 credits for £1.

Totally awesome game and it'll be much more fun with extra people.

I'm definitely there Tuesday, JDE said he would be too - that gives us 4 already. So no one else is allowed to come on Tuesday.

I'll also be down Thursday and probably Wednesday as well.

Four-player DB:AC with CHI, JDE, hzt and MX7 (with Dan76 viewing from afar) was awesome fun.

And for the first time tonight Casino owner John chatted away enthusiastically to us (me, JDE and hzt). He's actually a lovely, enthusiastic friendly guy after all. It was great to hear his stories about the early days, plus the details about the DB:AC cab and a Gradius VI rumour!

A great night at Casino! Good to see you all and even talk some STGT'11 strategy.

Damn, wish I hadn't dashed off so fast. Curse my tiny bladder!

Another thing John mentioned, if I'm not mistaken is that the cabinet was initially intended to be loke tested at Troc, but that went tits up for obvious reasons. Nice to have the mystery of the ridiculous cabinet finally solved!

Anyway, 4 player Darius Burst was amazing. Though I have a suspicion the game is kind of average, it really works well as a 4 player game. Will be interesting to see if it gets popular: multiplayer shooters might be the next 'thing'. Watching OTA and JDE attempt the world's first 'double double play' was certainly interesting :D
