What case to use for AtomisWave carts????

Post by CulDad78 »

I've seen people advertise they use the "wide" gen/mega drive cases, the ones for like the EA sports games. The inside slot is almost a perfect fit, however the case isn't thick enough, ie, you don't get a good snap and the center of the case bulges a bit - not ideal.

I see southtown sells inserts, but no cases (that I can see). So, what do you guys use to case/display your atomis carts?

Looks like EA style Genesis cases (the larger genny games with the yellow piece) are the preferred method, as well as Neo Geo MVS shockboxes with some bubble wrap.

^^^They sell the Neo Geo shockboxes as well as printed Atomiswave inserts. Shouldn't be hard to find EA genesis cases. I saw like a billion Madden '94s just today.

Yeah, I saw the EA GEN cases used, and I did it myself...the cart fits almost exact. However, the case is about 1/8" too thin and even though it snaps closed, there is a slight bulge in the center - which I don't like.

I've just discovered yesterday, that some of the larger carts actually had "thicker" cases. The only 1 have that works perfectly is Mutant League Football, it is about a full 1/4" thicker than standard GEN cases.

Does anyone know which games were released w/this thicker case? (it is not just EA games unfortunately, most are standard thickness, just have wider cart slots on the inside).

Please don't kill Mutant League Football for Atomiswave storage. MLF is a better game than anything Atomis has to offer.

FYI, along w/Mutant Football, i've recently discovered the Road Rash games had the extra thick cases (and those are a better alternative to Mutant Football fo sho). The hunt continues for shitty games in the thick cases...

Think they'd fit in VHS cases? Those must be much easier to find.

They'd fit, and those clamshells are thick enough, but I want the carts to snap in place when closed, which they do inside the above mentioned cases. They are almost identical size-wise to the large GEN carts, just a bit thicker is all.

^Really bro. Moving on...

PGA Tour Golf II and NHL 95' also have the thicker case, so those appear to be common enough I should be able house/display my collection soon. Thanks to those who pm'd and replied (thoughtfully, that is).
