Personally, I don't mind.

Especially since they give a price break for the first couple days.

I'd still pay $12 for Deathsmiles.

Seems an odd move. Especially for the older titles. Doesn't make much sense; if people wanted the games, they probably already got them. If people were on the fence, a higher price is probably not going to sway them to the purchase.

I could understand selling a new title for the higher price, but raising the price on titles that have been out for a while selling at a price almost 1/3 less seems a bit questionable. :?

Maybe they feel that by maintaining an inflated price they can drive sales at whim with the introduction of "sales"
It's definitely a way to drum up online discussion of your game...there are entire forums dedicated to iOS price drops

someone on the toucharcade forums DS thread broke it down like this, because it's related to Apple's recent changing of international prices for certain regions due to exchange rates:
1. Japan's 115 Yen (equivalent to our $0.99) becomes 85 Yen, and all apps get cheaper.
2. CAVE raises their prices in order to come closest to the original price the apps were going for in Japan.
3. This raises all the international prices as a result, but this was the intention of all the price changes in the first place. For example, CAVE used to be selling their shooters in the U.S. for $8.99, but due to the decrease in value of the U.S. dollar, they weren't getting as much Yen profit as they should've been getting. Now they are.
4. CAVE posts the new prices on their website, confirming their intentions.

Yeah, **** that. Unless they integrate some kind of third-party controller support, it's not worth it, at least not for me.

Yeah Apple just adjusted a lot of international pricing (HW and SW) due to the currency exchange rates being way outdated.

$8.99 I think. Thats what I got DDP and ESP for a while back.

Usually a bit cheaper when first introduced. I got Deathsmiles for $4.99 on the day of release.
