I hope MOSS finally regrets not letting Cyberfront give Raiden IV a PC port. Their III port was fantastic and I would have snatched IV up in a heartbeat.

Theres a port for the XBox360, NTSC-U, and thats the closest we get to a PC port (if that makes any sense) ... i bought it and i play it from time to time, but im SO getting that dump! hehe.

edited: got window mode working in some games using "dxwnd". still no clue to rotate the game.

and for raiden 4's hard-to-launch the game, try rename the game.exe to launcher.exe and execute corresponding bat file. sometimes renaming it back to game.exe also works. anyhow, this method lets me play more rather than double-clicking.

Yeah, Raiden IV is finicky for some reason. It worked fine the first couple times I ran it, but nothing since, even doing what joeboto suggested does nothing for me...

I got Raiden IV to work by adding "pause" in the batch file and then making sure all windows besides the batch file was minimised by the time Raiden IV loaded. Still running as game.exe and controls binded. Maybe it's the GUI doing it, so going Old-style might actually fix that too, since the DOS window is old-style and it works.

I can't figure out how to get rid of the rotation either, there's functions in graphics card drivers and stuff for it but I would've thought there was such a function in the Dipswitch settings, which I can't modify due to an error being unable to write to D:\. Has anyone else been able to alter the settings and if so how did they get it to work?

EDIT: Rotation via graphics card settings doesn't do it when the game's fullscreen, and setting the Windows GUI to old didn't help it work better out of the box either. But every time I've run it with the batch file having a pause in it with all the other windows minimised or closed the game runs.

Yeah-Nice one BP! that "pause" in the .bat is a masterstroke! Runs every time for me now too.

To fix the "write to D:" problem, I remapped a flash drive to D: and now everything works perfectly!!

Hrm, still no luck for me on 2 different PCs with 2 different video cards (one with a 7600GT, another with a HD4890). The game starts to open, but never pulls up anything except a taskbar icon and a blank window in the upper-left corner of the screen that shows nothing.

four way joystick = N

That should allow you to hit diagonals.

I simply put "n" for the arcade stick option and then put w a s d for movement, and then bound my directions on the arcade stick to w a s d using xpadder.

No luck with compatibility mode on 7, and no luck on my XP machine. I really don't get why it worked the first couple times I ran it and not at all since, that's the most perplexing part. Even re-extracting the file to a new location gets the same result.

Ok, try this last thing because it did it for me: make sure you have absolutely NO windows open. Close it all, open the task manager, make sure you have as few shit as possible running in the background. Hell, I would even shut down the modem.

With that ready, open the folder containing the game, add the "pause" text to the second line of both .bat files. This will give you enough time to minimize the container window (which you can have open) and focus on the cmd window. Don't press anything, it'll automatically start instead of crashing and sitting on the taskbar. From there, hope you had the replacer file that redirects the D:\ drive and TATE your screen.

As for your advice, I didn't even have to shut everything down, just minimise as much as possible. But if you've got something like Vista and 7's CPU meter and gadgets on the desktop get rid of them, and if you have fancy desktop background changing shit get rid of that too.

My computer in my room (not the legacy PC, a newish one I've had for just a few days now) initially did not run Raiden IV due to some I/O error but then upon restart ran flawlessly. This machine has an nVIDIA 7600 GT in it, running with the latest DX9 (June 2010) and nVIDIA drivers at default settings.

I see you got it to work but you can just hit F5 to enter window mode.

TGM3 runs perfectly on my mediocre laptop (Athlon II P320 2.1GHZ, 3 gig ram and ATI 4200). Very happy.

Okay, I got it working. Apparently I had to NOT check "Run in compatibility mode with Windows XP" and then I had to check all of the display settings below it.

Only problem is that if I start playing it and then close it and want to play again later, I have to reboot my PC.
