If you keep doing this you only need to clear it 19 more times and you'll reach your goal of 250 million, and the scoreboard will look brilliant.

When are you guys planning to go down to Casino this week? I think I'll probably be there tomorrow at around 5.30pm or so, and trying to figure out how to play on a cab  (I've done that exactly once, with comical results at first and I had a lot of trouble seeing the top half of the screen well enough)

HELLO

Good, now I have your attention, I'm still waiting on confirmation of plenty over on the meet thread:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 52&start=0

Those of you who haven't checked in, please see the updated opening post for a full list of what's happening. There's over a month to go, so plenty of time to clear your calendar (Spadgy) and help me to organise how things are going to go down. I'd very much appreciate it.

At the moment I have had 1 PCB request for Muchi Muchi Pork. So that either means we'll be playing only MMP for the entire weekend, or you can take a look at the available list and choose some stuff to play. Goddamnit.

Broadcast over, many thanks.

I posted and requested a PCB but you just ignored me or something. It kind of hurt my feelings. I'm a sensitive guy.

It probably depends on when spadgy can make it with Mushi. Regardless I'll be there around that time tomorrow (I'll be wearing a grey hat if you want to spot me) and CHI often drops by around 6.

Thanks for your confirmation and suggestions. Just waiting to hear from Spadgy and whether Neorichieb will be making a special guest appearance.

Sorry guys - being at E3 fo the last week meant nothing but work (I was even lucky enough to have some 18 hours days). Now I'm back (landed last night) I'm insanely busy playing catch up. I have emails about attending weddings and stag dos and organising charity events all harassing me for my lack of attention; and rightly so - I've been bloody awful. I'll take a look at your thread and PM right now Skykid (also, I have a very small shmup-related E3 gift for you Skykid. Don't get excited, as it ain't much, but think of it like me getting you flowers from a garage forecourt on the way back to our marital home in a desparate attempt for forgetting our anniversary. Seriously though, I did grab it at the show with you in mind).

Onto Casino - I can bring the board Wednesday or Thursday. I might just prefer Thursday, but I'm flexible. When's best for you guys?

He's like Casino's cliterous, but a little easier to find, and wears a hat rather than a hood.

I'll be down tomorrow, from around 4... so I don't know how long I'll stay. I've got to clear Futari with a half decent score. That's the mission.

I'm not bothered Wednesday or Thursday, I tried to pick one so that it would help the decision making but it really doesn't make a difference to me.

I found it very difficult to see what was happening near the top of the screen on the big vert cab in Casino at first, so you're not alone Aliquantic! I'm sure you'll get the hang of it though, just keep practicing :) And I'll drop by Casino around 6:00 tomorrow evening, so say hi if you see me - I'll be wearing a SFIV t-shirt with Ryu on it, and have a red backpack.

That's good! Very good! :D :D 'Bean' laughing about that for a while.

When I was a kid I had very curly hair. My mum would call knots in my hair 'clits'. At the time I never questioned it. She insists its 'an old Isle of Wight' wording. Obviously they haven't found the other clit on the IoW.

Okay, cabs still don't like me very much (120m gameover on Futari Original stage 4? I had 280m back on the 360!) but Casino is pretty fun, so I'll be seeing you guys again :) I've just realized I should've gone for the DOJ cab 1cc today though since Spadgy will be taking it out very soon... oh well :|

You'll get used to it.

Personally I find the Futari cab quite uncomfortable to play on with its straight up screen - it just feels like I'm way too close and I'm always sitting further back to get a better overview on it.

Other folks seem to handle it okay though.

Yeah - once you get used to cabs you'll never look back.

So, I'm going to head in Thursday with the Mushi board. Fingers crossed we get it in then...

We have to come up with a solid argument for putting it in the Red Earth cab. The only one I can think of is that all the other Cave games take money, so swapping one won't bring any extra in - but replacing Red Earth would.

Good night last night - Aliquantic made DOJ look easy. Played Dodonpachi but didn't get very far - It looks like I only play well on that game when I don't pay for it.

I'll try and make it down thursday - give Spadgy moral support when confronting the ENGINEER boss.

But which will be harder - getting him to deal with 3 PCBs across 2 cabs as per spadgy's plan or getting him to rotate a monitor after we've basically told him his game (Red Earth actually belongs to him) sucks?

Last night was "fun", I played infinite credits of Strikers 1945 Plus with the worst stick in the world and JDE took us to Soho to experience a game about space whales, underage girls, and glitter.

Damn, I would have liked to have seen that.

That said I realise DOJ may as well be replaced now - the feckin' button on the P1 side just doesn't work properly. It cuts out every so often while you're holding it, instantly killing your chain attempts. P2 is ok, but it feels odd to play on that side for some reason.

Greetings gents. I work at Earl's Court and actually never realised there was an arcade in london with shmups in it.

So my question is, after looking over this thread and seeing how you guys switch the boards out and stuff, do you have like a set schedule for what days the arcade has what games on etc?

I'd definately consider coming down regularly after work or at the weekends if there is stuff going on, or actually just in general to play by myself and practice on cabs.

Especially if you have Futari 1.5 and DOJ.

Also, is the basement always open when the rest of the arcade is? And how busy generally is the shmup section on a normal day?

Many thanks for the info.

It's open everyday, and the basement is where it's at. The games only get changed every few months, so you can go there any day.
The arcade is usually busy on Thursdays and Friday evenings (at least when I'm there) but that's cos of all the fighting game guys, you won't have to wait too long to get on a shmup.

Nah, you didn't miss much :) It wasn't even a 1cc and I'm not used to WL at all so only 75m and token chaining (though WL is a very nice change after a lot of grinding on BL's loop... a lot fewer hypers to cut through the thickest parts so it's more dangerous, though still a bit of a paper tiger). I'll work on it though if it stays in a cab, and I didn't really have trouble with the stick or the buttons, not anywhere near as much as with DDP anyway...

I'm hoping I'll make it tomorrow afternoon and see Mushi/moral support, but no promises! And to enjoy the constant, frantic tapping if someone is trying to play Mushi Maniac at high level (doubtful!) :o

Cool! Do join us. The more the merrier, definitely. We usually meet once a week (though I've been crap of late), and despite our attempts at meeting on a regular day, it tends to be either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening, and we just sort it out in this thread on the fly

If you're there and you see somebody playing shmup, there's a good chance is one of us lot, so say hello. I've always got a skateboard with me; that should make me stick out. I don't think I'll make Friday though - a shame.

EDIT: Spelling!

Also, not wanting to cause confusion, I thought I'd clarify. Skykid is right about Thursday and Friday being the busy nights - it just tends to be busy with the fighter players. I was on about us shmup lot! See you tonight punks!

Gonna be down tomorrow from roughly 4pm, I finish work at the hospital at 3.30, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and from there to goodge street doesn't take long.

Will stick around if things go well till...sometime between 9 and 10pm. Will have to head out to get a burger at some point or something.

Should be fun, might even get massacred on street fighter a few times if the feeling takes me.

Edit: did i see at the start of the thread that a credit is like 25 pence or something? Cause that's awesome, where I went now and then in plymouth it was £1 a credit and all they had was parodius if I remember right....

£1 for three credits on the shmups!

Anyway, guys, I meekly admit I might not make tonight, even though I have my Mushi PCB on me. I have to help somebody close out with some personal shit – the knid of thing that takes preference over everything. I'm sorry I've been so crap of late. I might actually be down tomorrow actually, as Mrs spadgy might be away.
