v1.01 - Simple - Type I
Valentia - 0億3142万1580 - STAGE 4 BOSS

This is my first and at the current moment best run of Simple mode.

I just started playing it a couple days ago and it's really fun. Although it definitely makes my thumbs hurt.

THX Icarus for spelling out techiques for me, the milking of enemy bullets in stg 5 and the fact that some baddies are invincible are totally unknown to me, same goes for the boss item fountains where I was wondering why I was been so hit and miss.

As you said the its important to charge the break gauge quickly, which can be best done by destroying enemy with full lock shots as it also fills the bottom gauge aswell. Using shot with full locks or sometimes while spamming the lock button is what I used to do and I repeatedly found myself not able to reach double break.

EDIT: Wow Ive just taken some of those techniques and applyed them to stage 1 and on my first try almost doubled my preboss score to 145oku :) Thx again Icarus

EDIT: I just had another go and managed to raise my score a little.

YES! My first Crimzon Clover 1CC! I actually did it once before, but the game crashed and I wasn't able to keep my score =(. So here's another. This was the first run of the day, too. A real mixed bag of a run. I did really well on some parts. Cleared Stages 1, 2, and 4 No Miss, decent success with getting 4.8x locks on bosses and major targets. However, I did bloody terrible on Stage 3. Lots of really sloppy deaths in general in this run from poor judgment/lack of experience, just embarrassing.

I saved a replay, so if you want to see it, I'll post it up and you can see how I roll: kusogamer style!

This also puts me in the top 10 in a shmup for the first time ever! I feel accomplished (until someone with skills decides to submit another score, lol)!

Keep going for the clear, shmuppylove. You're almost there.

Too too many stupid deaths, having to take Extends from the bosses and it's killing my score :|

Woo here we go, surviving much better so I could take the item bonuses instead of the extends. Only had 1 stock left when I got to EX BOSS though, still dying too many times on stages 3 and 4.

On my way to 100M and the 1CC !

It's not really a bad idea to grab as many extends as you need. You do get a significant amount of points for your remaining stock after the clear, after all. Keep in mind that the score bonuses are also worth fewer points in the earlier stages.

I'd better step up my game, though. Sounds like you're about to catch up to my score =D.

All Clear!!

I'd be so much happier if the score were better. I took the extends all the way through, I think after Stage 3 I should start grabbing items. By that point, if I can NMNB through to Stage 4 I'll have enough stock to clear.

After watching a vid of Icarus play, and reformulating my strategy to a simple "get off the bottom of the screen, dammit!", I had easily my best run ever! It sure is a lot easier to survive when you're killing shit quickly

Obscura - 33,847,724,250 - Stage 4

Does anyone know where it saves replays at? I'd love to upload one for critique, but I don't know where they are.

Ah, ok. Well, unfortunately the file is way to huge to upload to mediafire easily (it sits at 0% forever), and I don't know how to record video from my desktop for youtube.

Also, what's the etiquette for posting new scores in these threads? I just beat my previous score (my new high is about 38 billion), but I kinda feel like I'm spamming the thread by posting new scores so quickly.

EDIT: Finally uploaded it, for some reason it sat at 1% for a while and then immediately jumped to 100%. Anyways, for anyone who wants to have a look, http://www.mediafire.com/?ydi5dswc7w2kpuy

EDIT again: Eh, why the hell not:

Usually if your post is last one in the thread and you have a new score, you just Edit, but you probably already beat me to that.

Since I had time tonight, I thought I should probably throw in at least one substandard full run as a marker for progress.

v1.01 - Unlimited - Type I
Icarus - 5680億6204万2180 - x21,805 - Stage 4
http://thestudio-uk.com/external/scores ... peI_01.jpg (13/04/2012)

Stage 3 didn't quite go according to plan. :/

EDIT: Double post, minor improvement.

v1.01 - Unlimited - Type I
Icarus - 7511億9935万6660 - x26,890 - Stage 4
http://thestudio-uk.com/external/scores ... peI_02.jpg (15/04/2012)

Stupidly died towards the end of stage 4, trying to keep my x6.4. Too many lives lost at the stage4 laser trap and midboss, otherwise would have come into stage5 with a good shot at breaking 1兆. A better stage3 though (nearly 4000億). I should learn to bomb during the trickier segments in the game, though. :/

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

EDIT: Triple post, another minor improvement.

v1.01 - Unlimited - Type I
Icarus - 1兆0613億0172万0480 - x25,740 - Stage 5

Image

Managed to limp my way to the stage 5 midboss, only to make a positional error and die off the missile spam on the second form. Would have been on for over 1.2chou as well, at the very least, if it wasn't for a billion and one stupid mistakes and safety bombs throughout the run. :/
Getting closer, aiming for 1.5chou or higher.

It's a poor score given the amount of mistakes made throughout the run in key areas. With a bit of consistency in stage3 and 4, and cutting out needless deaths, I should have at least 1.5chou by the time I get to the fifth boss. I'm aiming for a nice and high ALL score with Type I first, then I'm going to migrate my routes to Type Z, and take out both Subterranean Sun's 1.2chou ALL score, and hopefully this 2chou ALL from an unknown 2ch player as well.
