Need help figuring out what shmup this is

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what 90's shmup this intro is from. It has a shot of a city, I think it might show it getting destroyed. There's also another shot of the pilot you play as with a picture of his wife and son in either a locket or a framed picture (I know this sounds similar to Axelay, but that isn't it). Does anyone have any ideas what game this might be?

Console/Arcade? And do you remember if it was a Horizontal or a Vertical shooter? I have a few ideas but a little more help...would help.

Bit of a vague post indeed there.

The picture of family shot reminds me of Gleylancer while the city getting destroyed reminds me of Batrider just a little bit. Knowing what console and/or orientation would be helpful in helping you out.

@ResumeDPosition: I think it was a horizontal shooter.

Don't remember if the console was Sega Genesis, PC Engine, or an arcade game.

@Drachenherz: Yeah I checked Axelay, it definitely isn't that.

The only other things I can remember about the intro is that there was no dialogue and it was rather short (under 2 minutes).

This sounds so familiar.....I was sure I had it till I checked, but nope...

Please post if you figure remember.....I may just load a bunch of shmups on MAME someday to figure it out

Even though Axelay fits the description perfectly and I know that isn't it, this is driving me nuts. I've had tons of exposure to shmups for years now and I'm stumped as to which one this is...I'm still looking around since my curiosity is now getting the best of me...I swear to god this is on the tip of my tongue but I can't quite seem to make it click perfectly.

Do you remember any distinctive stages/bosses/weapons? That might help, if you can...

From the intro you described, it sounds like Zone 66 to me. It was a "360 degree" free roam thingie shmup, I don't know how it would be classified...
