Considering replacing my Astro City chassis with a C3129A

Post by drunkninja24 »

Just a few questions:

Does the C3129A support 15/31Khz switching on the fly? I know the chassis I have now needs to be physically switched to operate in 24khz mode if needed. Main reason is that I want to run both my 360 and my MAME PC in the cabinet, but I do use Soft15Khz on my PC to get true low-res out of my games, will the C3129A have any problem going back and forth like such?

I also assume the C3129A wires into a JAMMA harness fine as well as having a VGA connection? Since I would also like to run PCBs.

I'm considering either just replacing the chassis or possibly selling some PCBs and my Astro to get something like a Blast or AWSD, but the chassis replacement is just a much more economical option, plus I don't need to sell near as much to pay for it.

Yes the C3129A is auto sync between 15, 24 and 31khz. :)

Oh, also, does it have anything to stop the monitor from trying to display above 640x480? So, say I hook up my 360 to my HDTV via VGA and 1920x1080 and then forget to set it back to 640x480 before moving it back to my cab, will that damage the chassis/monitor?

Nope.... no safeguard in that environment. Ultimately it is possible to kill the chassis.

Heres a real good question, where in the USA can I buy a C3129A without basically spending the amount of money required to outright replace my monitor with a Kortek 29" Pentasync? I haven't found a place that sells MS9 compatible replacement chassis for less than like 500 dollars, I can call betson and get a new monitor tomorrow for that money.

I've heard Alva Amusements carries them, though you'll have to get in touch with them to see if they have any.

I've been looking here: http://www.arcadespareparts.com/arcade_ ... 13171.html
