It definitely won't be XBLA. That would be unprecedented and would limit how much they could charge, whereas there are already examples of publishers releasing retail games on GoD in regions that they were not originally released in. It's something that Nintendo have also allowed on their Virtual Console service. I really can't see them setting up a whole new distribution channel in another country for such a niche title.

Yeah for sure. Just take a look at Arcana Heart 3 PS3 port and how it will be released in the USA by Aksys, nothing but digital when it's on DvD in Japan and the european release is going to be region locked (the 360 version for sure).
IMO is going to be digitall. I can't see Cave affording the expenses of the game outside Japan.

There are? Do you remember which games/regions?

There's a bunch of Japanese retail shmups on the Asian GoD store which were never released at retail outside Japan. Then there's Arcana Heart, as mentioned by Phellan Wolf. Possibly others.

AH3 is PSN only, though. Is there any precedent for 360 games being released only on GoD in Europe or America?

I don't know, but it's irrelevant. Technically, Asia and Japan are separate Xbox regions. They have different region codes on the DVD header.

Will be getting a US release via Games on Demand. Comes out May 17th for $30.

Sounds like MS granted them an exception as an experiment. If this works out, we might see more JP-only games get released this way (and not just from Cave).

Shame it isnt coming out in plastic, still the US only for the moment status hopefully means Cave intend to give RSG the chance to publish it themselves in PAL / Europe.

Amazing.
I remember throwing a bitchfit regarding Arcana Heart 3.

Definitely buying this to support the possibility of more GoD releases.

I'd rather buy a J360 than a hard drive, so I guess I'll forget about DSIIX for now.

Er, this game is like 1~2gb when installed, so the GoD release should take about the same space. As long as you have a decent size USB memory stick, I don't think storage space should be that big of an issue.

I don't have one that big, and I'd rather keep my USB ports free for joysticks.

This news is useless and disappointing as I expected, but I had gotten my hopes up that this could be something better. Oh well. If I ever run out of STGs to play, I can buy a Japanese console.

I'm sure the domestic release will have enough takers. Guess I'll start looking for a Japanese disc, I've certainly put it off long enough.

I'll buy the GoD DSIIXMEGATRONBRACKRABEL version... Game is way better than the elitists make it out to be.
Worth $30 to pay Cave (considering that my PC is too close for comfort when it comes to uh...you know....*cough*emulation*cough*)
for a game I otherwise wouldn't bother buying - let alone buying ANOTHER 360 to play imports.

What Cave Need to Do Is:

Release the following on XBLA for 800 MSP
Donpachi\Dodonpachi
ESP Ra.De.
FEVER!
Mushihime-Tama

and the following for 1200MSP
Espgaluda
Ibara
Mushihimesama

Release via Games on Demand for $30USD (International too?)
Ketsui
DOJBLEXMEGABUNGLOAD

And for shits GoD @ $39.99
DFK \ BL \Ketsupachi etc...

Alright...I'm done...sorry....thanks...bye

Pretty sure that if Cave released some games on XBLA for $10 and others for $15 there'd be a huge amount of bitching from everywhere, wailing through mountain passes and spoiling all the fresh water.

Including me.
However, I'd rather have this in Europe than no release.

There should be two in the back of your box as well.

I think that's a strong possibility. Pretty sure at least Dangun Feveron is currently in the process of being readied for an XBLA release.
Matskat wrote:and the following for 1200MSP

I don't see this happening. I think it would be more likely that they'll release all 3 together as a retail bundle.
Matskat wrote:Release via Games on Demand for $30USD (International too?)

DOJBLEXMEGABUNGLOAD
Those two games were published by 5pb, not Cave, so GoD releases would depend mainly on them (and MS).
Matskat wrote:And for shits GoD @ $39.99

DFK might get a GoD release in Japan eventually, but I'm not so sure about BL retail version. International releases would depend entirely on how well the international GoD release of DSIIX does, by the sound of things.
Sumez wrote:There should be two in the back of your box as well.
I think there's only 1 in the back. Unless they added a 2nd one with the Slim models.

I believe CAVE is waiting for RSG games announcement for the eu release if they are going to publish it retail or not. We will hear the promising news next month according to Rising Star Games facebook. Though I am glad they took this step I hope in the future alot more devs release their "less fortunate games" on demand.

Yeah, they're definitely heading into some rocky territory with this one...something tells me they'll be going the digital (or at least budget-priced) route to take the edge off.

Wait wut, what did RSG write on their Facebook? I've been monitoring their forums and website blog since the DS release for more news, and that is where they decide to write stuff?

I am almost sure that they will simply publish another Japanese RPG crap on NDS, Wii or 3DS (most likely Rune Factory 3 or Harvest Moon 142).

All they said is that they are having a "major announcement next month".
