It's just that I've had to put off a lot of little things around that price lately due to having to furnish a new house and cover other moving related expenses. Wouldn't have bought it right now if I wasn't a bit concerned about its availability. I'm sure I'll be glad I bought it, right now I'm just hoping Unlimited is going to run on my machine :pHair wrote:It's only like $30. Compare that to a new Xbox game. I forget that real people have lives and responsibilities.
When I had posted that I had just filed my taxes and found I was getting a good return. Now I am waiting for the return to direct deposit, am broke, and couldn't spare the $30 for a new shmup if I wanted to. Blew my money buying Xbox shmups.
So I'm with ya.

I'd probably buy this if I had a windows box. As it is, I don't want to have to procure a copy of windows, partition and install/activate/update just to play a shmup (albeit an apparently really really good one.)

Re: Crimzon Clover
As my 1.00-version of CC works just fine, I'm a bit reluctant to upgrade to 1.01.
Is it true that it is a little bit harder than version 1.00? I don't know where I read it, probably in this very thread, but somebody had written that the game has become a bit faster? And also, the troubles with the joystick-mapping...
Ist it worth upgrading to version 1.01?

1.01 will be on my disc right off the bat, right? Are you given the option to select between 1.00 and 1.01 on the new discs like DOJ Black Label or something, or is it just all 1.01 all the time?

Re: Crimzon Clover
Yes, it's worth it. 1.01 adds replay support, fixes input lag and bugs, and adds an option to switch the score display format. I personally haven't experienced any changes in difficulty or speed.Drachenherz wrote:As my 1.00-version of CC works just fine, I'm a bit reluctant to upgrade to 1.01.

The problem with key, gamepad, and joystick mapping is just a harmless side-effect that can be fixed by deleting config.dat from the game's data folder and remapping your controls in the game.
In any case, if you're really worried about something messing up, back up your install of the game before upgrading.
Should be 1.01 all the time if the copy you bought is from the second printing. There are no differences in the core game itself between 1.00 and 1.01; just bug fixes and a few extra options like mentioned above.Deca wrote:1.01 will be on my disc right off the bat, right? My copy arrived today (cheers Rancor!) and it is indeed 1.01 on the disc.Aisha wrote:Should be 1.01 all the time if the copy you bought is from the second printing. There are no differences in the core game itself between 1.00 and 1.01; just bug fixes and a few extra options like mentioned above.
Only had a few plays but wow, I'm inpressed - love it already!
Just need to figure out how to get my stick working and I'll be set!
Re: Crimzon Clover
Mine just got here as well, no time to play it right now but I'm looking forward to getting at it later this evening
Edit: I don't know why but the demo seems to run much better on my machine than the full game...I'm due for a new computer anyway though.
I don't know if it's just me but this game seems tougher than I expected! I pretty much stood no chance against just the second boss :S

Downloading v1.00 now to try her out before spending the $30 bucks.
Hopefully this runs on my quickly aging laptop! Looks incredible though.

We've answered this question at least 3 times; look through the thread before you post.amarti wrote:tate mode is available?
And don't let the lack of TATE stop you from getting Crimzon Clover; it's a great game and totally worth the money.

True, Tate on doujin shmups dont really matter as much as arcade shmups from Cave and co since indie PC titles are designed to be played on normal screens so I dont feel im missing out playing non tate

Re: Crimzon Clover
Any Idea how I can get the widescreen mode to work in fullscreen?
strange thing is, on my Desktop with win 7 64bit home premium, fullscreen widescreen mode works from the get go. On my newly acquired Laptop with with win 7 64bit home premium, widescreen will only displayed in a window...
I just don't get it...

Re: Crimzon Clover
Widescreen res is somewhat atypical 720x480, not all monitors support that. Usually you can set your monitor to keep aspect ratio for non-widescreen resolutions. So turn that on, and just play the 640x480 version.

Re: Crimzon Clover
I'm trying out my new stick. It uses a Street Fighter IV TE fight stick PCB.
It works with Jamestown, MAME (but Hyperspin freaks out when I try to scroll through my games. When I play it works fine though). When I start up Crimzon Clover though I don't get any response from the stick. The stick is set to D-pad (you can set it to Left stick, right stick or d-pad.
Does anybody have any ideas?

Try setting it to one of the sticks? It recognises my 360 pad straight off and maps movement to the left stick.

Re: Crimzon Clover
I had the same issue using any of my TE sticks in the game. It seems it doesn't recognize directional input from a hat switch (which is that the D-Pad setting on the stick is recognized as in Windows). Best I can say is get XPadder or Joy2Key and map it to the arrow keys. Also, I wouldn't recommend using the LS setting, since the input on it lags.burgerkingdiamond wrote:I'm trying out my new stick. Now that I have a new TV, I have the overscan issue again. And I can't figure it out in the service menu. Is there anything I can do with the game to fix this? I'd rather not run it in a window...
Re: Crimzon Clover
@Thjodbjorn
Your TV should have an option more than likely.
If not, you may be able to fix it by checking your video card drivers for options.
The nvidia or ATI control panel for example.
Otherwise you can download a program called shiftwindow and force the game to run within the TV resolution. It will let you grab a window or fullscreen game and resize it to an arbitrary size and position, including a "fake" full-screen windowed mode. Just remember to keep the same aspect ratio which changing the resolution as it will stretch the image as well if you choose to do so.

I was playing CC again the other day on another computer, doing well... when the movement-stuck-in-one-direction bug occured... how frustrating, this ruins the entire game for me, even if it happens in rare occasions...
I had sent an e-mail to Yotsubane about this some months ago but got no response... that was before the Japan earthquake, I hope they're well, by the way...

This happens to me in Touhou games too, generally when I'm doing really well and am near the end of the game.Iaspis wrote:I was playing CC again the other day on another computer, doing well... when the movement-stuck-in-one-direction bug occured... how frustrating, this ruins the entire game for me, even if it happens in rare occasions...
Has anyone been able to fix it without restarting the program? It seems very odd to me that I only encounter that problem in doujin games and never with emulators or mainstream PC titles.
