Not to bash on dave4shmups or whatever, but doing this whole "MODS PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD" and so on has to stop, because the moderators are not required to lock your thread and whatnot. They will only lock threads that deem necessary, not upon someone's request or demands if a thread goes wrong.
Once in a while, it's okay to lock a thread per request if it's an orgy of retardation on the highest level.
The only solution, dave4shmups, is to just let the thread go to hell, and take the time to figure out what went wrong and whatnot and create a new one and hope that it goes all well. I know I've ripped on you in the past and I have no problem with that, but you should realize all these posts you've typed about how anyone shouldn't take the Internet 'seriously' and few minutes later, you throw off some kind of attitude or tantrum towards someone for disagreeing with you. Especially when someone uses sarcasm.
Another chestnut of wisdom here to keep in mind when it comes to posting on forums: When someone disagrees with you, it's NOT considered trolling at all. It's called DISAGREEMENT. Trolling is when someone decides to be an asshole and pisses off nearly everyone in a thread, or derailing a topic with useless, inane bullshit that has no relevance to the topic or bumping up post count to enlarge your e-penis.
Again, for emphasis' sake, I'm not ripping on you. Just stating the facts, that's all.

It was one of many - and I don't think we should be locking them at all unless there's actual flamewarring going on.

A typical Dave4shmups thread, reads...
Subject: Which is better, Mr Nutz or Terra Cresta 3D...
Dave: Which is better; I've searched EVERYWHERE for a review of either.
Untitled member #1: www.google.com
Untitled member #2: Yeah, try a search engine
Dave: More crap? Why are you being so MEAN to me? I have a degree in 'Internet Research'; I DO know how to use a search engine. I'll PM the mods, honest...
Untitled member #3: Both of those games are lame. I'd rather amputate all my limbs than play either
Dave: PLEASE stick to the topic; all I want to know is which game is better. Geeze, is that really that much to ask?
Untitled member #3: Umm as I just said, both suck. Equally. Seriously, there are much better games out there.
Dave:
Can no one give me a straight answer?

I was Untitled Member #3 in his last thread. Why do I feel dirty?
Be attitude for gains:
1) Be praying...
2) Be praying...
3) Be praying...
And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

Yeesh, blood in the water...if you want to change someone's behavior that's one thing, but do you honestly think that the full-on bashfest that this thread has become (before its subject has even seen it, mind you) is going to help the situation at all? C'mon, I like to think that this forum has a little more class than this.

Some people make collecting mediocre games a serious hobby. I've been searching for Rad Mobile.
To go futher, I'd say THIS thread it trolling. for complaints like this, I'd say pm a mod and leave it up to them.

grinning cat's post is really funny.
and most of us have been really patient with the guy.....the guy has 1800 posts ffs! (LoL) This is the point i made in my first post, its the repetiton of the same mistakes/behaviour that becomes frustrating.
this is by far one of the most tolerant forums I have seen on the whole internet.

well it's not like people haven't told him point blank, to his face, in plain english before. I myself have done it twice. We can't sit him down in a room full of us and have an intervention, after school special style.BulletMagnet wrote:Yeesh, blood in the water...if you want to change someone's behavior that's one thing, but do you honestly think that the full-on bashfest that this thread has become (before its subject has even seen it, mind you) is going to help the situation at all? so making a thread devoted to questioning/critiquing/insulting his behavior is the next logical step. Also if the number of emoticons present in an average thread says anything, this board has no class.
GC, excellent impression.

I agree here. And yeah, collecting mediocre games is a very serious hobby (if not the ONLY hobby of some people), which is okay. Some people collect stamps or coins and no one bashes them for collecting mediocre, low-value, or cheap stamps. I'd know since a friend of mine is fairly serious into coin-collecting, and no one insults him for seeking out the less rare coins, or those that no one else wants - they often ask why he's looking for them, and then just sort of forget about it.dpful wrote: Me too.

As for people who "collect" games, rather than play them, try heading over to digitpress if anyone wants to see how different of a hobby videogames can be to different people. There are a lot of serious collectors over there, collecting good, bad, prototypes, pirated carts, etc. They don't want to play them, they collect them. And if they do play them, or want impressions of them, other members either answer to the best of their knowledge, or stay out of the topic. Makes sense to me

So let's just calm down, realize we all love videogames (wasn't aware that a person isn't allowed to want opinions/enjoy games that are widely considered "bad" - to each his own). So, if you don't like how dave posts, ignore him. By constantly referencing him, or insulting him, you're just making his presence more widely known. Like this very topic, for example. I really don't agree with many people's opinions, and in that case I either comment on it, or ignore it. And if I comment on it, it's not to make fun of the person.
Holy rant - sorry about that

I was only playing around. Nothing like a little parody to lighten (heh) the mood. To be honest, I'd be pretty worried if anyone took anything I posted even remotely seriously - well, apart from maybe my for sale threadsBulletMagnet wrote:Yeesh, blood in the water...if you want to change someone's behavior that's one thing, but do you honestly think that the full-on bashfest that this thread has become (before its subject has even seen it, mind you) is going to help the situation at all? it's not about his choice of games it's about how 90% of his threads are nothing but "tell me about _______", no attempt to actually engage in conversation just mining us for an opinion. then when people get tired of answering him and tell him to go look it up on his own and come back when he has something more than a name, which considering the size of the internet, is not a problem, he starts getting indignant.marcus12024 wrote:I agree here. If he comes to us first for all his gaming opinions because he trusts us than he needs to accept people's opinions at face value. if he doesn't trust our opinions than he needs to start looking elsewhere first.

Very well, that's fair - as I mentioned, I really don't pay any attention to his topics anymore, so am sort of out of the loop. Just didn't want people ganging up on someone for no real reason - but it sounds as though people have their reasons. I myself am now choosing to once again leave the discussion, thanks for your time!magnum opus wrote: it's not about his choice of games it's about how 90% of his threads are nothing but "tell me about _______", no attempt to actually engage in conversation just mining us for an opinion. then when people get tired of answering him and tell him to go look it up on his own and come back when he has something more than a name, which considering the size of the internet, is not a problem, he starts getting indignant.

Yes, but that is not the case here.marcus12024 wrote:They don't want to play them, they collect them.
If opinions about _____ vs. _____ are requested, gameplay is obviously of interest, as opposed to collecting them for collection's sake. There's a difference between:
1.) Asking if Sol Divide is better than Skull Fang, and
2.) Buying one or both of them to fill a hole in your collection.
The first will make you the subject of laughter (regardless of whether that's polite or not), the second probably will not.
Although I probably shouldn't comment because I don't read his threads anyway. Like anybody named Dave would post worthwhile content.

Thank you for the defense dpful. No, I'm afraid this forum hasn't got more class then this. I have improved, and I really don't give a crap who thinks I haven't.dpful wrote:BulletMagnet wrote:
