Score after the first day of playing:

Version 1.01 - Normal
Sapz - 3,061,990 - Stage 4 - Shasta (A)

Man, the game doesn't mess around past the second stage.

what I meant was that eoj claims that the 1.0 modes are actually different between the pcb and the port, for both mmp and ps

you should see this http://www.cave-stg.com/?p=1041

I was thinking that every single mode available in the port (i.e. the port itself) should be in its own topic, for both games; the pcb and the port should be considered completely different standards and jpj's threads should not track the port scores for 1.0

I guess I have to repeat myself:

The only difference between the PCB and 1.00 on the port is that there's no infinite lives trick in the port (already stated in the other thread). There is not a single score done with this trick yet (EOJ didn't post his one) and thus it's not important at all, the score's are very much comparable. The slowdown is rather accurate as EOJ says. The only bit that got significantly harder is the third midboss in stage 6. However, this is such a small portion and again, can be neglected. Just look at Mushihimesama port or even Ibara port and their PCB pendants. There's much greater difference in slowdown and the scores are kept in the same highscore table on this forum.

MMP on the other side is a whole different story since there are actual enemies missing in the port, which is an obvious loss of points.

Splitting PCB and 1.00 is absolutely not necessary and would be just plain stupidity. Just mark the scores done on the port and that's all.

sorry, I missed that

to be honest, I think the infinite lives glitch alone is totally worth a split, though it's "your" game so it's your call

the thing where 1.00 and 1.01 scores are grouped together sounds really dumb though

(really, to be honest, every single legitimate port (some emulated bundles, but not all) should have a /thread/ all to itself, just because!)

It indeed would be worth a split if at least one person would've had a score done with this trick. Because all scores are done without the trick, there's no problem to compare them with scores from the port.

Agreed. Mixing these two modes makes no sense at all, but is already taken care of with this new thread.
(really, to be honest, every single legitimate port (some emulated bundles, but not all) should have a /thread/ all to itself, just because!)
Pink Sweets is not a very popular game. Only a few played the PCB and I'm not expecting too many new scores from people, who are playing the port. Especially for these smaller games, it's much better to have one single table for the sake of competition alone.
I don't care if someone else has a 10% easier game (and talking about Pink Sweets, it's probably around 2% at most), I see it as a challenge and try to beat his score anyway. We're not getting world record like scores anyway. Difference's don't really matter that much. The more scores on the table, the higher the fun to beat them, because you beat more scores on your way to the top and get the sense of achievement more often.

Yeah, I really don't think it's worth another 1.00 thread.

Scores with other characters, and an improvement with Shasta!

Version 1.01 - Normal
Sapz - 2,050,750 - Stage 4 - Meidi & Midi (A)
Sapz - 2,073,050 - Stage 3 - Kasumi (A)
Sapz - 4,326,900 - Stage 5 - Shasta (A)
Sapz - 4,240,000 - Stage 4 - Lace (A)

Wow, that 5th stage midboss is an asshole. Lost both my last two lives to him since I didn't know what to expect. :(

I really mean as more of a 'comprehensive, universal, permanent database' type of thing... this would probably be much better with a special dedicated site (filters), but those are clearly hard to do

if it's a real database with real rules, having a bunch of different versions with different quirks all considered the same doesn't seem right

This score will get dominated by anyone who knows what they're doing.
#9 on the leaderboards for now though.

Arrange

HEX - 181,970,160 - ALL - Shasta

BTW, Pink Sweets Arrange is possibly my favorite CAVE arrange mode ever.

Nice score! I haven't really given Arrange a proper attempt yet, been too busy with 1.01. I'll give it some more credits today or tomorrow and see what happens.

Early scores. Will definitely work on improving.

Does Arrange have the different shots for each character? I selected with A on both of these.

Arrange- Normal
Phoenixma- 75,328150- 4 - Shasta

Need to learn how to not die stupidly on this mode and make the only deaths suicides for rose hips.

Arrange- Score Attack
Phoenixma- 69,760,800- All- Shasta

Not sure how the time works on the Arrange version, and it seemed like I wasn't getting the rose hips back with every death. Didn't really try to milk cause I wanted to clear it. The boss didn't even do the laser attack much anyway.

Not sure how to score in 1.01 though. Not sure how to score in anything on MMP either, even the Arrange mode. I'll need to watch some replays. Also need to get a Japanese account so I can get that Matsuri DLC.

Edit: Also, if that's stage 6 then damn that's ridiculous, and I have no idea how I would ever deal with it on Arcade and maybe even Arrange if I don't score well enough.

Arrange Score Attack
CSF - 79,658,480 - Clear - Meidi & Midi

Too lazy to sign into live to see what the top leaderboard score is, but I'd like to shoot for 90 mil.

You get rose hips every 10 mil. They're really good for milking the bullet spirals the 3rd midboss and stage boss spit out.

Suiciding to keep/build your multiplier is a good idea too. The section with the snakes and laser helicopters seems almost impossible to chain without suiciding to stop the countdown and get a free rose cracker. Could be helpful for doing the same on the first two midbosses, and hitting a x64 on a boss/midboss is extremely lucrative.

It's probably a viable strategy in normal Arrange as well, but you'd have to do it fairly sparingly and be confident in your ability to survive after throwing lives away.

As a side note, I really wish they either allowed score attack in all of the stages, or had a stage exclusive to that mode. I think ground roses would have done a lot for scoring, given Arrange's multiplier.

Some 1.01 scores too, even though I'm not really happy with them:

Arrange- Normal
Phoenixma- 107,882,410 - 5- Lace(A)

Completely screwed up stage 5. Completely screwed up stage 5 boss. Completely screwed up some other parts.

Also, game overed to the boss's curving laser attack. As if I didn't get enough of curving laser annoyance elsewhere. Also, Arrange is pretty much the only mode I'll be submitting for on this game as I don't find 1.00 or 1.01 to be fun.

Arrange- Score Attack
Phoenixma- 75,796,590- All- Lace(A)

Still need to figure the stage out at parts.

Had a few decent runs in Arrange today. The different rose cracker types definitely make them play differently in this mode, as some are better at scoring one section while weaker in another. Lots of cool variety.

In Arcade mode, every character has a different set of shots depending on if you select them with A, B, A+B, or Start.

Wow, Lace can be a bummer to use sometimes. I have so many deaths when there's a pause in her shot and something sneaks through. While the giant-ass rose cracker is definitely cool, it's hard to time since it expands slowly.

I'm definitely getter better at using the Hadou Gun at least.

Seconded. Even the laser in the second form of the stage two boss battle used to catch me way off guard.

I just got this game yesterday. It's pretty damned sweet.........and pink.

Argh! Those damn rocket-ship thingies at the very end of Stage 6 that kamikaze from every direction are the bane of my existence!

Arrange

I do love this mode though :D

Version 1.01 - Normal

Plasmo - B,045,420 - ALL - Lace (A)

Tried 1.01 for a change. Did several mistakes including chainbreaks and stuff. Just went for the clear.

Awesome stuff! How difficult did you find the clear (and is it really that much easier than 1.00)?

It didn't take me more than 10 credits to get the clear, but of course I must say, that I've played tons of 1.00 before and thus was used to something quite more difficult. Indeed 1.01 is absolutely nowhere near as difficult as 1.00.

The biggest change that makes 1.01 so easy is, that you can lower your rank when you let max medals go off screen. If you miss enough medals throughout the game, you can keep your rank at zero the whole time. You'll only need to be familiar with the stages then.

I would rank 1.01 on par with DDP's first loop. It's not as easy as Futari Novice, but with a bit of practice easily manageable.

Ver. 1.01:

B,455,760 - Plasmo - ALL - Lace

Replay is up at leaderboards, a cheap first place, which I don't deserve. Poor 1.00 scores... :(
