Shoot em Up Database

Post by Toxi »

Hi all,

I wanted to let you know, that Triggerzone.com has now a (huge) Shoot em Up database that works the way Wikipedia does. This means, every user can edit or add new games to the database. After 4 weeks of Beta-testing we've now found and included all necessary functions to make a good shoot em up database. However, the database works in german. Have a look at it, browse through the systems and let me know what you think of it. You can access the site here: http://www.triggerzone.com/gamesdb/index.php

Kind regards,

Carsten

I attempted a list of all arcade scrolling shmups I could find a couple
years ago. There are no reviews or screen shots--just game names,
manufacturers, and release dates. I haven't worked on it lately,
but there are about 400 unique arcade games listed, so it might
be of some use as a reference.

Hi there,

thanks for the information and your feedback. The difference between Malcs shoot em up database and the one from triggerzone is, that each title, developer or system is linked. That means, if you click f.e. on "Cave" you get a list of all Cave shoot em ups. You can upload screenshots / covers for each game and even write an article about it if you want. You can also rate each game. If everyone takes part, we'll soon get a list of the best shmups out there. There are more than 1100 shmups in the database at the moment.

Kind regards,

Carsten

Hi there,

thanks for your feedback.

Actually, it wouldn't be too difficult to add an english language version of the database. Although I think most of the texts are self-explanatory. You should'n have problems to understand "Release", "Version", "System" or "Scrolling" for example.

Very nice. I recently picked up http://shmups.info, which I'm building into a similar wiki, although I'm definately branching out more - it keeps expanding into new sections!

On a side note, Ballistic Zen will return fairly soon, as soon as I can sit down with my artist. We've figured out an awesome theme, and just need to get the art done. =) [/url]

Check that out for gobs of arcade shooters (and any other kind of arcade game). You can fiddle around with the search specifications on the side-bar to get loads of results (about 800 games [not including clones]).
