Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
OK, so if I mess up a run, what should I be pressing, Restart, Return to Title or Previous Menu? Which ones do and do not cancel achievements/high scores/Xbox Live scores?
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
Return to Title is the one you want, which brings you back to the 'Press Start' screen. Restart just restarts from the beginning of the stage IIRC (cancels high scores and such), and Previous Menu brings you back to things like Score Attack and replays.

You should go to Return to Title. If you do Restart, even on the first stage, your score will not be saved.Elixir wrote:OK, so if I mess up a run, what should I be pressing, Restart, Return to Title or Previous Menu? Which ones do and do not cancel achievements/high scores/Xbox Live scores?
Achievements i'm not sure about. They should stick no matter what i would think.

But this is a moot point because you should never discard a run in the first place.
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
I am guilty of restartitis. But only for the first stage. I have done it so much that i have muscle memory for restarting. i will do it without even realizing it.

Yeah, same with me. Unlocking Ura is a pain in the ass.Sandlegs wrote:I am guilty of restartitis. But only for the first stage. I have done it so much that i have muscle memory for restarting. i will do it without even realizing it.
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
Especially in Arrange A. It is either i get enough hypers before the mid-boss for an awesome score or the Ura mid-boss shows up. Never both at the same time. I think I have gotten all 5 hypers and had the Ura mid-boss show up a total of 1 time.drunkninja24 wrote:Yeah, same with me. Unlocking Ura is a pain in the ass.
I usually just settle for having 4 hypers.

I don't see how Prometheus doesn't ragequit every time he dies right before a really lucrative chain. He must have a will of steel. I guess that's one thing you need to be a good player.
Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
I think restartitis has its place if you're trying to figure out how to do a certain trick; it helped me get the Ura midbosses in stage 1 of DFKBL down, which took a few days to get consistently. It's significantly harder than it is in WL, IMO.
When you're going for serious runs rather than trying to get tricks down, it's often a bad idea, though. It's nice to get a lot of real run practice of later stages, since it'll be very different there with nerves going on compared to how it is in practice.

Re: Xbox 360: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu 1.5 (November 2010)
I've got two days now on the DFK BL retail disc. My affection is torn between playing BL in Strong style with its Ura loop patterns, and Ketsupachi.
It's so great to get to jump right into those Ura loop patterns when playing Strong and bypass the flabby first loop. It's really no joke to clear even playing with autobomb turned on. Yet, the tougher patterns still retain the basic flow of the originals, so if you're familiar with 1.5 it's not insanely hard to pick up and do reasonably well in, though it's still kicking my ass by the end of the fourth level so far. I haven't spent any real time on Power or Bomb yet, so no comment on those.
Of course, the real meat is Ketsupachi. How to describe this Frankenstein? At times it has a serious MMP vibe as you go plowing into a group of enemies with your laser, and the screen fills with absurdly oversized [10] boxes. Difficulty-wise it's not too tough out of the box, but when you start trying to score well it evens out as you're always placing yourself high up on the screen to keep those [10]s flowing. I was skeptical that this mode would end up meaning anything, but it's been all I've thought of now for the last 48 hours. It just keeps calling me back. I admit I can't help but have a nostalgic bias, as here's a Dodonpachi game, a series I love dearly, and I'm taking the old Tiger Schwertz out for another spin... makes an old shmup-o get a bit misty as that remix soundtrack kicks in. It's not nearly as tough as the original Ketsui, so I doubt it will have the same longevity, but it's likely the closest we'll get to Ketsui 2, and damn if it isn't just really fun.

I guess Xbox.com has a problem with this game at the moment, I can't see my own achievements.
Does anyone know Doom's unlock conditions in Ketsufukkatsu?

I agree with this.
The Ketsuipachi mode is bloody brilliant, once I figured out how it all works. I love Ketsui, and this mode uses the best of both worlds here. And it goes along great with my usual tendancy to try to point-blank everything.
But BL is excellent too. Cant get enough of that. It's got the difficulty that 1.5 was lacking, and then some. Strong-type with it's Ura patterns, yeah, that's pretty much what I've been doing there as well. And I love the heck outta that "rank meter" thing. Maxing that out and having it go nuts is just.... great.
All in all, I'm very impressed with both modes so far.

I think 50 percent of DFK BL sales were DLC, and i am not even sure they pressed more than 5 000 copies so even kanbai it couldn t enter xD.Elixir wrote: Weekly sales. DFK BL didn't place..

EOJ's website has this post on the 1.5 patch (there was a previous one too fixing another bug with the end-of-stage display).

My copy of BL came in today. I recorded my first Arrange run for the hell of it, if anyone is still starving for footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVAFI0Gx ... 2C97F4FCFE

Can't say I'm not just a little bit happy with the disastrous sales of the retail release. Serves 'em right for bastardising the DLC. If the print run was really as low as 5000, and given that it's still widely available everywhere, sales must have been truly dismal.
One thing's for sure - the eventual EU/US retail release is going to represent serious value for money with all those modes on one disc.

Hey guys,
I just ordered DDP: DFK 1.5 LE from Play-Asia. In order to redeem the code for 1.51 should I use a Japanese Xbox Live account or should I use my regular (UK) one?
What are the pros and cons of doing so?
I already use my UK account for Mushi and have 1.01 registered to that.
Thanks in advance!
