Anyone going to PAX East?

Post by ratikal »

I just bought my ticket today, and I was wondering if any other shmuppers are going. Maybe we could get together in a game room (I'm sure they'll have plenty) and have a mini shmup-meet. :P

I'll be there.

Unless they do something drastically different from last year, I wouldn't expect anything shmupwise though... the only shmup action going on last year was with Aksys's Deathsmiles cosplayers. The console game room was about the size of my living room, with Saturn Bomberman being the most interesting thing running.

The Boston Convention center is MUCH bigger than the Hynes. I really bet there will be more rooms.

I'm gonna sound really nerdy but I hope my Alice Blackburn costume is ready by then. It wouldn't make much sense to wear it at Anime Boston.

So I dunno if you checked, but the only shooter action that took place all weekend that wasn't the FPS variety was at the last round of the Omegathon, where they had 4 people failing at Ikaruga for a shot at going to Germany. I stopped by the "modern" console gaming rooms and looked at the list of games available, and not a single notable game on the list - I saw one Aegis Wing setup running, and that was about it.

Yeah, I checked around. The ONLY thing shmup related was at the classic arcade where they had R-Type. Also, I can't believe that Ikaruga thing at the end. I could have totally crushed those two stages...

Maybe Anime Boston will be better since its more on Japanese culture and well...Cave is pretty damn Japanese. To be honest, PAX was kind of underwhelming.
