RQ: Radirgy Noa - triggering extra extends

No doubt everyone who owns this game has watched the included superplay and has seen that at the beginning of each (even) stage the player somehow manages to trigger an extend right at the beginning.

Has anyone managed to work out the secret of this?

I could do with a few more lives, I keep getting annihilated on level 9 :o

I've done some videos showing this :

And it's done as well on the early level 9 !!!
There seems to be a secret code to achieve this as we can notice 3 shots, a pause, then 2 shots, but I haven't managed yet to trigger that...

I'll have to try that out, seems tricky though. With an extra 4 lives I might stand a chace of clearing the game (I can't survive against the final boss).

If I'm successful I'll post here to let you know.
