__________
3 lives, extends at 70K and then every 200K, Normal difficulty. Leave rapid fire on, leave invincibility off. Yes, the debug button is banned.

There are differences between versions labeled 達人王 (everything else) and versions labeled Truxton II (US and Europe), so they're being split.

If anyone really wants to play the FM Towns version, I'll add a board for it.

New Version here.
----------
Post scores in this format:

Code: Select all

VERSION
NAME - SCORE - STAGE - PLAYER SIDE - DETAILS
DETAILS is for which console or emulator, which region release, etc. I'm sure there's a difference between one "達人王" version and another.

Stages 7 through 12 are loop 2, stages 13 through 18 are loop 3, and so on.

Truxton 2 , what a great game !! I remember i sucked at it but loved it none the less. Of course that was back when i was a soft core occasional shmuper . I wanna do better now and im done playing Zanac neo anyway.
I am so going to play this like right now. That means putting my 180 lbs tv in tate mode, urgh ...

Wow. Game's really slow, though. You might want to do your good/confidence-backed runs with tate, when you're ready.

Yeah this tv is very heavy. I fear im gonna drop it when i rotate it on the narrow shelve it sits on. Also its very high so i have to move my couch and stand on it to grab that monster. ITs really scary, but i love Tate too much. and its a blast on this TV.

After a few runs i reached mid stage 2. Gonna post my score when i get a little better.

Btw: Is there a special scoring system in this game and is there any use to the "fast forward" button ? What i can see is that it somehow piles monsters up sometimes. Then you can bomb the screen and it is funny but then i dont really have any use for it beside fast forwarding the first few seconds of the game.

Just destroy enemies and collect excess speedups/powerups. There's no penalty or gain for bombing/not bombing, though I don't know about lives.

Fast forward is a debug feature. Vimana has it too, but you have to flip a dipswitch to use it there. Don't use it in either game, lol.

Man this game makes me want to smash things quite literally. Each stage is so long but somehow it really feels like an accomplishment when you finally clear to the next area.

Arggh this game is so infuriating, why is the speed upgrade making you so fast so you cant micro-dodge properly, I always end up losing a life at the first boss and then will needs a bomb to finish him off. Second boss is actually easier.

I was on a good run and then died stupidly from a tower snipe and ruined everything. Might as well post the score since i wont be the last one on the list .
Will try again tomorrow

The high speed movement of your craft is there for a reason, plus it was what made the original Truxton popular. Just get used to it or adjust your joystick setting if you can.

Yes i am practicing with full speed, it helps most of the times, especially in levels. Actually its mostly for the first boss that i seem to have an easier time at lower speed. After playing Truxton 2 if i try another shmup the ship feels slow lol.

Now my problem is i cant beat third boss ... After i break the two main cannons i die from the combination of spread shots and the two gizmos that sweep the screen. I searched on youtube and the only video i found , the guy just waits him out... I tried and did it but still it takes like 3 min to wait him out and i think waiting out bosses plain sucks.

The third boss gets messy when you start destroying it. I like to personally just wait, it's easier. The game is long as it is, it takes about 2 1/2 minutes for the boss to time out, and it'd take you a little time to destroy him anyway.

Nobody fights the 3rd boss as everyone goes for time out.

All right i am not gonna argue, waiting this one out is the way. I just hope to reach him on my first credit sometime.

Heres my latest hi-score :

Truxton 2 :
Evilmaxwar - 378640 - 2 - MAME ( shmupmame )

Died at second boss like a noob even though i near always beat him no bomb in practice, must have gotten nervous.

Heres a little new hi score submission, i dont go up in the ranking but go up one level. I actually almost reached third boss.... look at the pic.
I really kept dying at the stupidest places , but ironically i still beat my hi-score.

Isn't Tatsujinou supposed to be harder than Truxton II, not the other way around?

I'd gladly be proven wrong, but no, no one's done it yet. Someone came dangerously close though. As in, died right at the final boss close. Hardest game ever? Y/N

Hopefully this will quell any claims that this game can't be 2-Allled  (how'd you even come to that conclusion, the WR is 10,000,000+ isn't it).

Here's a 2-All+ video that I had the pleasure of watching earlier tonight while it was streamed live. Don't know who the player is (Naut was the one who found the stream), but he managed to make it all the way to the end of 3-6 with a score of around 3.8 million. Phenomenal replay, especially 2-5 and 2-6. :o

Looks like loop 3 and onward are just repeats of the second loop.

A hour 3 replay? Good grief. This is like a Gradius 3 replay - horribly long... thanks for sharing all the same, I'm sure it's a good one.

I went into the asshole stage 5 opening section with no bombs or lives left and somehow managed to ace the entire thing. Then in the very next section I crashed into the midboss while trying to pointblank. :x

Truxton 2 score. Taking a break from Truxton 1. This is a walk in the park in comparison, though the game does feel a bit sparse.

Got nearly to the third boss.
