My first game was sonic adventure on release then at Xmas I got Soul Calibur and Trickstyle. The joypad feels wrong now when you compare it to the 360's pad but it did the job. Only a few true exclusives remain now, its funny how the 360 basically is a dreamcast 2 when you look at the titles on xbla, sega published games and library.
I only play mine for shmups now border down in particular. Virtua fighter 3 was a good game put poorly ported, lacking features and required an arcade stick. I'm looking at my remaining dreamcast library now and the gaming experiences that still stand out now are: shenmue 1 and 2, skies of arcadia, rez, space channel 5 part 1+2, JSF, soul calibur, grandia 2, fur fighters, starlancer sonic adventure 1, toy commander, virtua tennis 1 and 2, headhunter, ecco the dolphin and metropolis street racer.
I think the distinct lack of popular FPS title support is one of the main reasons for its fan base. It was and still is a console for people who purely enjoyed playing games.
I never got the DC2 = 360 thing. They're both white, MS ripped off the controller shape for the original XBox (why?), and there is a mistaken impression that DC games all run under Windows CE because it has a logo on the front of the machine. As far as I can tell, that's pretty much it...
I'd also argue that the DC *does* actually have popular (at the time) FPS games: Unreal Tournament and Quake 3, both playable with KB and mouse and online. There's also a bunch of WinCE ports like Rainbow Six, but I never checked those out because the general quality of the WinCE games I've played leave a lot to be desired.
The trouble is that, back then, FPSses weren't really considered much on console. The only popular console FPSses I can think of from that time are Turok, Goldeneye, and Medal of Honor. Different times... of course the *lack* of FPSses had nothing to do with the console's success
BTW Fur Fighters is essentially an FPS!
