In the Wikipedia article about Omega Boost I found that it got mentioned, among other games, in "My Console" by Eiffel 65. Now that's what I call embarrassing.

Seconded. I love this game so much yet it's so underground... I think Aerosmith topped everything by completely ripping off Macross and Omega Boost (among other things) with their "Fly Away from Here" video. I could care less about the song but the whole mechas, ships and shit made the thing awesome. Kind of awesomely gay too
