I've recently acquired a B1 size Deathsmiles poster and 3 half size B2 Mushi futari posters (10"x29"). I want to frame them so i can have a nice display, but i've noticed it's hard to find frames the right size in north America. Does anybody have a good source for a proper sized frame or recommendations on a large size that mattes nicely?
I'm also considering building a frame, but i'm not sure where to start.

Looking at the price if I can't find an over-sized frame I'd rather build my own. I'm not paying $180+ for a custom 40"x29" poster frame when I can build one for less. A pane of 1/8" glass, wood trim and a piece of thick cardboard backing can't be that much.
Brendz mentioned I might use a slightly undersized Ikea frame and just roll the ends slightly. I may take this route as these are only Matsuri reproductions and thus not worth a lot. The main goal with framing is to make for a nicer presentation.

I agree that it's not a good idea to overspend for a matsuri poster unless you really like it. The only one I've seen that I believe is worthy is the DFK one with the ships flying over surface. Personally I wouldn't spend too much on something that's lolitastic. In a few years you might not want it displayed.

Ha, that's possible but given my personality for the last 15 years I some how doubt it. Apparently i'm only losing about an inch on the B1 if i have to go with that size, so it's not so bad. The half width B2 ones are a bit of mystery though. I always shell out for the custom.....they have a lot of really REALLY nice things that make it worthwhile....stuff like anti-glare coatings, anti-UV, archival quality backboards (no acid). If you're planning on keeping it for a LONG time...it's worth it. I've done 4 so far.....got a few more left...just can't afford it

The problem with that is i'd feel like i was being raped. Well....it's usually only about a 100% markup on the archival stuff....that shit is expensive to begin with. Things I've framed so far:
Trigun cel of Vash w/original background and concept art (3 pieces of artwork in the frame) - $250 framing (archival anti-UV & anti-glare glass, acid free paper, anti-glare, color matched red metal frame)
Sylphia one-sheet (thanks Gaijinpunch!!!) - $100 framing (arckival anti-UV & anti-glare glass, acid free paper, matched colored blue border on the matting, metal frame)
Shin Megami Tensei PCE one-sheet (again ty to GP) - $100 framing (archival anti-UV & anti-glare glass, acid free paper, matched colored orange border on the matting, metal frame)
Psychonauts Poster autographed by Tim Schaefer - $140 framing (regular anti-glare glass, suede matting, metal frame)
Yeah, it's pricey, but they look REALLY REALLY good. Way better than anything I could have done custom. And I go to a place that's VERY VERY good too. Some framers are definitely better than others. I've got several more pieces that I really want framed, including some original comic book art, a couple of game posters, and some other comic related stuff. The average price is around $150-180 for a half decent sized piece of artwork, which is spendy but not ridiculous. I do maybe one every two years or so. It's still cheaper than buying Cave boards
