The ship's shot especially looks meager and even the very small popcorn enemies needed a few shots to go kaput in one of the footages. I'm waiting for more, clearer footage.
I guess they are graphic whores
All a good Euroshmup needs is awesome music and graphics anyway. That's the success formula.
Before I saw the video I was going to say "it can't be an Axelay successor without a 360 degree vulcan", but that was pretty much exactly what I saw in the second video. :D
It's definitely nice to see that European devs have finally picked up the notion that bullets must be clearly visible, but otherwise I haven't seen enough to be impressed. Will wait for more content. Visuals are at the high end, though, that's indisputaple.
So Duranik does keep his word!
So glad to finally see/hear about what I had long discounted as empty words.
And it really DOES look frigging awesome to me in the short footage I saw.
Lush animation and colourfull graphx.
Hope it has a soundtrack to match the looks.
I am uber puymped by this news ...... up until recently I had to sell a bunch of my prized shooters (due to economic climate) and have inevitably been buying them back lol ....... so this indeed will be a welcome edition. I Don't know why but it reminds me a little of Progear (maybe the background more so than anything else) .... more news on 23rd Dec apparently .........
Good graphics but I dunno about the gameplay. The trailer doesn't seem to tell me anything about it. And the incredible slow music doesn't help. Overall it looks decent though. Or just boring?
Background images and bosses look fancy. What I don't like are the bullets (look hard to recognize). Also without sound effects the trailer is a bit cheap made, so looking forward to more gameplay footage. I will probably pick it up next year, although a real console port would be nicer than an indie DC release.
At 16 levels (7 worlds) is a tad too many for me personally. I do hope theyre short in length. Still If I compare it to many classic horis like gradius or xexex which loop, 16 stages is about right.
By all means, now is the time to be critical because the devs are listening. Would be a shame to put so much time and money into something without the community getting a chance to give as much input as possible.
The colour-changing bullets are interesting. You'd think that it'd make them more visible but I'm not convinced yet. That said, I don't think that means this has to become a cave style game with barbie pink bullets everywhere. So long as they are clearly visible during explosions and within the ships own bullets.
Health Bars and 16 stages can be a put off for a lot of the cave fans here. I guess that's just their approach. They seem confident enough that they can pull it off.
Well, Duranik is registered at Triggerzone (biggest German shmup site) and listens to criticism, they mentioned they probably will get rid of the health bar concept and improving the weapon system. 16 stages with 20 bosses still put me off though.
Easy fix, just make an "arcade mode" that plays like say, Blazing Star with 6 or 7 stages (keep all those "filler" stages/bosses in the "console" mode).
afaik, a couple guys from here have been involved in the testing process. Still time before the proposed deadline to tweak the game. Hope to see more gameplay footage.
So many people here jumping to silly unsubstantiated conclusions. Just because we love shooters doesn't mean we have to be sceptical everytime something new comes out that's not done by Cave.
It looks really good graphically though I agree it's hard to see what the game play will be like. 20 levels only seems a lot because of the type of game we are all used to. Maybe this one will have a slightly different take? Perhaps 20 levels on this game will not be like 20 levels on a Cave game?
Anyway, it's for the DC and a shooter so I'll be buying it to show support.
Something didn't look right from the trailer. The weapons do look weak, if I was a dev I'd make my guns stand out in a trailer, would'nt you? Of course I'm just speculating here, let's wait for the release.
An Interesting point though is that Eurodevs push on with the whole life bar thing despite the fact that it would seem like a lot of people don't like it. It does seem like an excuse to not properly balance a game to me. They really belong in Fighters where they have worked for years (when was the last time you saw a fighting game, post SFII that uses anything else)?
