Well, it’s all relative. Yes, you can drop your entire stage scoring potential in DFK but compared to other DDP games, and indeed many other Cave games, it’s really not that bad. DOJ has no relaxed period to raise your counter and it's harder to chain stage 1 in DOJ than it is the entire first loop of DFK: Tap here, hold the laser here, hit the bee there, collect this bee now, use the hidden stars, hyper there, don’t kill those yet, don't power up yet - It's ridiculous. Conversely chaining stage 1 in DFK consists of one tricky link from the last big tank into the popcorn enemies (which can be done in many ways) and the rest basically chains itself.Special World wrote:Your chains break when it counts, when you have a full hyper meter and you're looking to score. I have a hell of a time with the first stage alone, it always breaks somewhere or I fuck up on one of the silos and miss the special boss. I know I need to play it more to get better, but when you fuck up in this game it's like you've accomplished nothing all level. It's extremely punishing to know you've worked half the level to build up your hit counter only to lose it soon after.
A full chain is supposed to be, and is, a commendable achievement. Cave has once again tried to cater to two sets of people and it seems like the build up being easy was their compromise.
