You mean hardware mods? Not what I think first when I hear "game mods".
PC modcasing can be quite out there. A beaver case mod comes to mind.

Ben Heck has made some of the coolest handheld gaming consoles ever. I've seen some of his work for the last couple of years. You really have to be impressed by a handheld Atari 2600. I've always wanted one of his handhelds, but can't really justify paying a few hundred dollars on one. Still hyper cool to look at, I'm glad someone out there is making stuff like this. One of the most collectable video game systems out there.
