DVDO Edge can't update firmware

Post by BuckoA51 »

Has anyone with a DVDO Edge had trouble updating the firmware? I've been trying for hours now on a total of 4 different computers and 3 different USB cables, here's what happens:-

1) Attach USB cable
2) Hold down reset until light stops blinking, as per DVDO's instructions
3) EDGE is detected by the PC, it either comes up as "DVDO Edge" or "Removable drive". When it comes up as "Removable Drive" the drive is empty and has 0 bytes free out of 0, I cannot copy anything to it. When it comes up as DVDO Edge, sometimes it has an old firmware file in there, which I managed to delete once, but usually it then just freezes and says "device is no longer found in my computer".

Anyone had similar problems or is my Edge just faulty?

Zero problems with two different Edge units and a bunch of XP computers.

Send an email to ABT. They usually respond quick to support questions.

Sounds like it's faulty then, gee I'm having some great luck lately. I'll call their support number tonight and see what they say.

Update - yep, ABT said it was faulty, got to return it to the Ebay seller in the USA.

It feels like the Christmas I thought I was getting a Gamecube and it turned out to be a set of hubcaps :(
