Aye, bloody hell, I'm still here. I moved so I can no longer leach shitty free internet, so I am now internetless for the time being, so my posts will be few. Rest assured, I will be thinking about you all while I am drunk. But yeah, I went over there pretty buzzed and got up into the front lawn. Started walking, turned around; walked away, came back, went home. Couldn't do it. Just drank more and passed out.

Just tried Sierra Nevada's Torpedo Extra IPA, and really enjoyed it. Also Green Flash's Imperial IPA (which I wasn't so impressed by, but in general I'm not really impressed by Green Flash) and ending it with a nice scotch. Tomorrow I'm going hiking up in the giant sequoia national forest. Looking forward to a fucking awesome weekend!

Get back on it man! I just kegged a new beer that's out of control. A wee-heavy (11%) fermented with oaken woodchips that were soaked previously in good smokey scotch.

Wow sounds awesome, how long did it take for your wee heavy to brew (how much time in primary and secondary) and where/how did you use the barrel chips? I'm worried I might have them in contact with the beer too long. Would love to try a higher ABV beer.

I just bottled a northern brown ale a week ago, had a bottle just testing it out and seeing how the carbonation was. I think it'll be really good in 3-4 weeks once it gets some more bottle conditioning on it.

Total fermentation was ~5 week (2 in primary, 3 in secondary.) Would have left it a little longer, but I just brewed another beer and wanted to free up my chest freezer. I soaked the wood chips in laphroig/ardbeg for 2 months and then put them in the secondary fermentation. Definitely a real wood taste finish--not for weak men

The surprising thing is that I say that as someone not totally shit faced. Like, I didn't have 10 shots of whiskey and am like "DUDE!!! PEPPER VODKA, BRANDY AND DIET MR PIBB IS THE BEST DRINK EVER!!!". I had half a glass of Guinness Extra Stout and decided that it wasn't going to get me where I wanted to go so I dumped in some of my old ladies fruity vodka and I'll be damned if it didn't improve the drink. The vodka flavor definitely over powers the beer, but somehow it works.

I guess I'm biased; I can't even take the smell of Guinness, so the idea of mixing it with 'cherry vanilla vodka'(eeeew) is retch-inducing.

My g/f actually likes Guinness, so perhaps I will recommend this concoction to her. Don't think she could handle the vodka though. 2 beers and she's cross-eyed.
