R-Type PCB no sound?
R-Type PCB no sound?
Just picked up a legit R-Type PCB (US version) today. Works great but there's NO sound at all. Anyone seen this before? Is it just a cap or something? I'm not tech-inclined so much, but I do have a multitester and a soldering setup if I HAVE to. Sound pot didn't work when I turned it at all.

There might be some caps missing next to the volume pot.
Here is a pic showing how it should look like:

Re: R-Type PCB no sound?
Yup...that's the EXACT problem. C101 and C102 are both missing as is C108, and someone has jumpered a wire from C102 negative to C108 positive for some reason (tiny spot right next to the pot).
How hard a fix is this? Are those common caps? Easy soldering job? I have the quipment, I've just never DONE it before
I do have some junk boards to practice on too...

Re: R-Type PCB no sound?
I've seen people 'fix' them like that before. There's probably another fault but to begin with you'll need to remove the crap and fit proper caps. Check none of the tracks have been cut too.
Was it sold as working?

No...sold as is. For the price I got it for I'm not exactly complaining, and if I can fix it, TOTALLY worth it.
