Qix++ for XBLA, a good purchase?...
I loved what footage I watched of this title on Youtube, but both GameSpot and IGN rip it to shreds. As I am very skeptical of their low scores for this game, I'd love to know what people on here think. One of the criticisms levied against this game is that there are only 10 levels, whereas the original was endless. But to me, that's like complaining that Pac-Man Championship Edition has all timed modes, and no endless mode.

Qix++ isn't bad. Volfied has 16 levels max (Genesis and arcade versions, not sure about the PC-Engine), and I never had a problem with that.
One "section" of Qix++ has 8 levels. Two sections are currently in the full game, with additional "Float" & "Hunt" modes promised as extra-charge DLC (240 points, IINM).

Kinect? KIN NOT.

I should check this out. Qix Neo on the PS1 is a good time, for fans of the series.

Sounds good to me. The reviews never mentioned that on section of this game had 8 levels.gameoverDude wrote:Qix++ isn't bad. Volfied has 16 levels max (Genesis and arcade versions, not sure about the PC-Engine), and I never had a problem with that.

I tried the demo but found it boring. As XBL updates of 80s arcade games go, it isn't in the same league as Pac-Man: Championship Edition.

I don't think it's anywhere near to being as good as Pac-Man CE. It doesn't make any real attempts to move the gameplay on from what it was originally and it looks seriously ugly, to boot.
Also, multiplayer was broken at release and it was impossible to find anybody else playing it within a week of it coming out. Not that I'd imagine anybody really cares about that aspect.

Qix Neo (aka Volfied 1500 The Jintori) is even better than Q++, featuring both arcade and arranged versions. Neo's arcade mode uses a Yoko screen layout, but the item boxes are in relatively the same spots as in the PCB Volfied. Thanks again to the late Fukio "MTJ" Mitsuji for this one.undamned wrote:I should check this out. Qix Neo on the PS1 is a good time, for fans of the series.

The domestic version of Neo can be found for about $5- half of what Q++ costs.

I'd get Time Pilot instead. The only thing missing is TATE.

Ok, thanks for the feedback and I'll have to get Qix Neo! Speaking of Taito XBLA games, what about Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! and Bubble Bobble Neo?

Absolutely fucking terrible, both of them.
Just download the trial versions. That's what they're there for.

Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure is somewhat boring. It feels more like some cheap bootleg with HD graphics, and the new character designs are meh. It's all time attack, also. The arcade RI would be preferable.
