A bit OT, but I just preorderd the LE along with an order for Last Hope: Pink Bullets. Will Last Hope be shipped alongside Fast striker or before?

You guys need to get with the times and release this on Live or PS3.

I think Fast Striker looks AWESOME, but I haven't had a dreamcast stick in years and ditto with the MVS.

I mean, I get the whole releasing games on a dead system thing, there's no one making you pay fees, but if you have a good product, why not? Don't be cheap about it.

I'm way out of the loop in the emu scene. You're telling me the DC has been fully emulated? Will it even run on a shitty PC?

I would consider that, the nature of emulation. Otherwise it would be called simulation.

But it's still usable to get a feel for a game. As Fast Striker and Pink Bullets are 2D they should work just fine...

In my limited experience, DC emulation is about as accurate as PSX emulation, though I haven't played any shumps on actual hardware to compare the emulation to. JGR, SC, Rez, Shenmue, etc. all feel accurate enough to me, though it's been quite a few years since I played them on a real DC.

The distinction between "emulation" and "simulation" is kind of arbitrary. For a long time, "emulation" meant hardware-supported reproduction. Some companies (e.g. AMD and IBM) still call their pure-software interpreters "simulators".

Some of us who prefer our physical copies aren't willing to remove our tinfoil hats and enter the new world of dlc.

Our Japan Blitzkrieg has begun...

If you live in Japan:

Fast Striker is now on location in the Try Amusement Tower game center in Akihabara!
You can't oversee it, it's directly sitting next to Akai Katana

Here is a small video just after installation:

The top maniac score in this video isn't WR breaking yet

More locations to come...

As far as we know it's AVE with roundabout 18 billion. He stated that higher scores are very possible though. :)

Sure why not. Is there anything specific you'd like to see on such a shirt?

Something involving bullet-patterns would be nice. I know a lot of people commented on the Cave art that was done at their festival a few months ago. It would be a first to see bullet-patterns on a t-shirt. Pink bullets are a must. 8)

Example:

Of course, it will have to say NG:DEV in your font, and you'll need that little creature somewhere (but not too large!) Printing on both sides / multiple places on the shirt would be cool. I like it when theres something small at the base of the neck or on one of the sleeves.
Hell, just get Lordstar to do it. His designs are good, he uses quality materials, and I'm sure he could do some bulk discount for you.

I went, I played, I loved it! I'm even more excited about my Dreamcast version preorder. Seriously, I think I enjoy Fast Striker more than Akai Katana. Sure, Akai Katana has better art, and better backgrounds, as well as the name CAVE attached to it, but Fast Striker is just more fun. I couldn't decide which of the two button layouts I liked better, and I never got to actually use the shield, but I enjoyed my time immensly. I played F.S. 5 times this afternoon, and at that point I figured I should stop spending money since its on its way to me anyhow. Great game, and you really should be proud - It's obvious your team spent a lot of time thinking about the mechanics and I hope its a great success for you and you have the urge to make more like it.. Bigger and better!

Why stop? The more the game earns in arcades, the bigger the chance of more arcade titles from the developer.

Especially as Try Arcade has several locations which could get equipped with FS. They already bought more than 1 copy, but there is a lot of room...

We want to develop our own Jamma PCB similiar to the SH3, something like that is very expensive and we can only do it, if there is an actual arcade market for us...our upcoming "industrial war setting tate vert" would look awesome on a custom board

@Rancor
Thanks for the feedback! If you have some ideas to improve our games or heard anything from Japanese gamers, please drop me a PM...

Ke2i

Sounds cool, hope you're able to use a custom board. What would that mean for porting? Would if make it more difficult/less likely to happen?

It should make porting easier and keeps production cost lower then MVS since carts are more expensive to produce for us. I'd like to add that whatever happens, the neogeo is still an option for us. No worries neogeo fanboys. :P

If you go with a custom PCB, will you still release a DC version ? Why not just go Naomi 1 instead of custiom PCB?

First, the Jamma PCB is just an idea we would like to realize some day.

Secondly, we will still support the MVS for some time. A Jamma PCB would be more for tate games anyway.

Third, like every other game company we mainly live from consumer sales. For example LH DC made 2-3 times the turn over than LH AES. Not doing ports of our games would be stupid. So there is no need to worry, as long as we make money with the ports we will do them. That's how every business works...

Just look at Cave, their x360 division is by now probably way more important than the old arcade division...I'm pretty sure that you guys will get their complete back catalog for x360 and iPhone some day...

IIRC, Naomi carts have a pretty complex protocol, and I don't think Naomi systems will run CD-ROM like Dreamcast will. Probably possible with a hacked BIOS, but then you'd need to get operators to install a hacked BIOS.

Also, it's just cooler to have your own hardware:

Exhibit A: DeathSmiles
Exhibit B: DeathSmiles 2
