WOW!!! :D

45 minutes with a car buffer and novus 3 and i have a brand new monitor :!: :D

this shit is amazing.....i would have taken pictures but my camera sux and you wouldnt see anything useful

highly recommend this if your monitor is scratched up....and its only like 8bux per bottle....and i used like 2/3 of a bottle to do one monitor.....

and as for reflections it makes no difference whatsoever......if anything it reflects less now.....colors are way brighter and crisp....and no blemishes on the screen :D

i am very happy with the results

Nice to hear. There are some people sceptical about increase of reflection, but that's not or hardly not the case. Good from you to state that again. I did the polishing job also a few months ago and I would say it's a 'must do' for everyone who owns a cab.

Nice to know someone was able to remove the anti-glare coating from a crt with success. I might give it a try in the near future.

honestly....with novus 3 and a buffer you cant fuck this up.....its easy to see what is done and what isnt...and when you are buffing and the coating is coming off the screen its pinky-purple.....when its all off the stuff stays white

i just used a basic $30 random orbit car buffer with its stock cloth cover and just did the whole monitor at once in back and forth motions.....left to right, then up and down, then circular motions....just keep moving and follow patterns so you do it evenly....

every ten minutes or so or when the novus 3 stuff starts to dry a bit, wipe it off with the micro fiber clothes and you can see exactly where(if anywhere) needs more buffing......bu either way...you cant over do this....once its all off you are just buffing the glass....unless you trip and fall through the screen you cant harm it....once i could see mine was done i reapplied some more solution and went at it for another 10 minutes just to be safe

and it might take a few minutes t get the feel for handling the buffer....it did for me anyways

if you lean on it too much it puts the vibration into the cab.....it rattles like crazy....so you have to sort of absorb the vibration with your arms....kinda hard to explain....you just put the right amount of force and it will buff the screen really well, without vibrating it to shit....but your arms will be vibrating.....its fun :D

and the results are phenomenal...even my g/f could see the difference....and she normally doesnt notice shit like that

so ya....do this...dont wait a few months....do it now :!:

Since I have a room full of cabs and neon lights, reflection is a big deal for me. Even with the current anti-reflective coating I can still make out some reflections (you can see in some of my shmupmeet pics). So removing the coating would be a disaster for me in particular. If you have a single cab in your bedroom I'm sure its not an issue.

BTW: when it comes time to sell your cabs, it may be important to mention that you removed the anti-reflective coating.

.... and that the high price level is therefore justified.

you have to understand Dave, the antic static coating makes NO difference for reflection.....it reflects no more, no less.... with or without it....all it does is improve the picture quality, sharpness and overall sexyness of the monitor

the difference truly is shockingly good

you should try on your worst monitor...if you have one that is particularly scratched up or messy...then you have nothing to lose

but if your concern is reflection there is no need for concern.....i have a monitor beside this one that reflects more with anti static than this one does without.....so ya

This didn't make sense to me because I thought it was an anti-reflective coating, or as AKRATEN called it an "anti glare coating". Anyway, I decided to check the manual, and looks like you were right, its for static only.

So looks like the only possible problem with removing this is getting static charge build up on the screen. Not sure how dangerous that would be, as long as the cab is properly grounded with a 3 prong plug or use of the grounding lug on the back.

ya i was kind of wondering why he was calling it anti glare

didnt want to say anything tho...i understood what he meant

but ya....i havent noticed any difference static wise.....

i held a meet yesterday and the cab was on for 10 plus hours.....no problems.....nothing but praise for the noticable image quality boost

it literally look like a different monitor....they thought i got another new one....

and like you said, static wont be an issue as long as the cab is properly grounded....if anything you might have dust it more....i will let you know on that point

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but it helped me out with my Blast City.

I had a lot of spots on my monitor that I thought were damage to the anti static coating. Reading the manual made me nervous about cleaning the monitor too aggressively due to the possibility of damaging the coating. The spots were bothering me so much that after finding this thread I decided to try some Novus #2 to see what would happen. If it messed up the coating I would just remove it all with Novus #3.

It turned out that the spots were just stubborn gunk that didn't clean off with the glass cleaner I had been using. The Novus #2 on a rag removed all the spots, and didn't damage the coating. I've gone from dissapointed with my monitor to happy in just a few minutes!

Nice. It's quite easy to spot a real damage to the anti-glare, as the screen will be of a lighter green shade in those spots. I've begun rubbing it off one of my screens now as I had a big, visible, very annoying tear I just couldn't live with. The downside is that if you have ANY screen burn, it'll be much more visible after you remove the Anti-glare. So if you're on the fence about whether to remove it or not, having it hide burn-in might sometimes be a better option if the tear/damage to it is insignificant.
