I had the opportunity recently to conduct an interview with Junya Inoue, best known around these parts for his contributions to many Cave titles. The interview is now online in full at the Otaku USA website:
That's a cool & informative Joker Jun article indeed. Would've been interesting to hear Jun's thoughts on the Akai Katana PCB release as far as his artwork contribution goes.
Does Otaku USA have any plans to include a DVD disc with their magazine in the nearby future? I do recall that the early issues of Otaku USA sold on the magazine racks across the USA did include such a anime DVD disc.
Was this interview conducted in person or via e-mail interview?
The DVD was removed for cost effectiveness. Also because anime doesn't sell so well on DVD anymore - streaming seems to be the primary future for that medium.
This was an e-mail interview, but it's looking extremely likely that I'll be doing an in-person interview with staff at Cave HQ come this winter

Great range of questions in that interview! Did you need a translator or do you speak/write Japanese? Also, if you do end up going for another interview this winter, will you collect ideas for question from the forum?
That was a great read. Interesting questions, a wide range of topics and detailed, intriguing answers. Surprised that Progear had such a long dev cycle compared to Guwange.

When they talk about the shift to "moe" style, as seen in the Touhou games, what does "moe" mean? I know it's a Japanese subculture term, I'm just not familiar with it.
Quite interested to hear that the themes for Guwange arose from a rural childhood...

Wikipedia has an entry on it if you want the basic gist.
To the OP, thanks much for the interview, an interesting read.
