[RIP] Atlus

Post by Ixmucane2 »

Atlus, publisher of several important games, has been "dissolved".

Its not really a company death, it's more of a merger with another company. Chances are games produced under Atlus, will still have the Atlus label.

The name "Atlus" evoking rather fine associations recently (better than Square Enix for sure), its owner most likely is going to continue using it.

This. The Atlus name will remain on Atlus related products, but the staff now work under Index, which makes sense as Index have already owned the majority of Atlus' shares for a fair amount of time already. No doubt some Atlus staff will get laid off, but the core members won't be.

Unless you're attached to watching their progress on the stock market, Atlus is alive and well.

Ah, typical, these days.. I'm guessing things are not going to change much, which his good. Let's hope its new owner treats it well, anyway.

I just realized this was in Shmups Chat. Needs to be moved to off-topic.

To clear things up further, an Atlus USA employee commented on the forums:

http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.p ... post215004

“Don’t worry, guys. This is just some corporate organizational maneuvering and won’t affect anything we do,”

Shit, when did the Atlus forums turn into 4chan? Ugh.

What a relief. Atlus has been filling the void left by Square and Working Designs quite nicely.

Now if they bothered to bring more shmups and R-Type Command/Tactics 2 already...

Aksys are more of a shmup company than Atlus are.

They localized Shiki 3 and fricking Cho Aniki.
(Formed by ex-Atlus employees. No surprise.)

You might want to consider changing the topic.

Its their parent company they're merging into. It really doesn't change anything, other than who's in charge on managing stocks or other jazz, which at any rate, we don't really need to care about.

I second this notion.
