Aero City Nanao CRT - Horizontal Size????

Post by Matskat »

How do I adjust the horizontal size on a stock Aero City CRT?

I found a jumper that gave me about an inch of expansion, but still on some games I need more.

The horizontal size coil doesent seem to do anything when turned, but there's a hole in the knob with what looks like an allen wrench shaped opening...

I read that theres a ferrite core in there and to NOT use an allen wrench for fear of breakage or burning my fingers :)

Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah they sell a plastic tool for those. A metal wrench will get hot, but mostly, the ferrite is super brittle and you might end up grinding it away. Also, you have to turn it alot to make a difference. You could try a metal wrench while it off (sometimes they're nice and loose and won't chip and grind) and then see what happened. How much ferrite mass between the coils is what makes the diff, so you can screw all all the way in or out to see what happens when you turn it on

No- did you search for "tv repair tool"? I think turning it off and on and using a metal one would be the best bet. (if it's easy access and doesn't turn too tight).
