A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
Fckin' a, Pink Godzilla/Gorilla expanded and opened up in the U' Dist with stgs in real cabs?! They've always been solid but...checking that out. Anyhow, back to the point:
Location: Seattle, WA.
How far: Time pending..Tacoma. Perhaps Portland if its really going down.
Can you host: Pretty much what everyone has stated- I'd rather meet some folks first before hosting anything.
Bring: J360, 99% of its collection to my knowledge (JP/US), PS2, DC, etc (what others have said). Alcohol of course.
Days/Times: Weekends mainly.
Sorry, do not think I'm going to PAX at this point (got spoiled going for free w/ old job, but they discontinued that and it was never the same...).

Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
So for all the Seattle peeps: since no one seems able or willing to host, how would you all feel about starting out with a small meet at Pink Gorilla? They have a fair selection of games, and it'll be a good chance to get to know each other.
If you're all willing, then what day would be the most convenient? I'm thinking the weekend after PAX would be good, but let me know what you all think.

Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
Love to. Start of school's about that time, but I'd be able to bus over either Saturday or Sunday. Would this be 4th and 5th or 11th and 12th?
Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
Probably the 11th or 12th (since PAX is from the 3rd - 5th), unless that weekend is bad for a lot of people.
Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
That works for me. I'm completely free till school starts for me on oct 1st.
I'll probably check out the place again at least once before the 11th so if anyone plans to go beforehand maybe we can meetup.

Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
Alright, so since we have a few people down, I'm going to say let's do this on Saturday, September 11th. Does starting at 5:00pm sound good, or is that too early/late? (keep in mind that the arcade closes at 9:00). Also, there's a lot of good food places in the area so if we all get hungry then maybe we can grab a bite to eat together.
Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
Thanks marus for getting the ball rolling. I'll try to stop by around 5 or so however I'm celebrating my bday on the 11th so I won't be able to stay that long

Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
From the PG Arcade thread:
And happy birthday to you, seattlexc!
So if anybody has a special request, post in that thread!bobbyconover wrote:Wow guys, I didn't realize the thread had been revived. Cool!
I'm super excited that you guys are putting a meet-up together. Even if only a handful of people make it out, it's a beginning. Maybe if it goes well the word will spread and more will make it to the next one, etc. I want to try to accommodate you guys however possible, so if the date is set and it's actually happening, I can do some temporary PCB swapping so there's a nice selection that day. Any specific requests? Or would anyone else like to bring PCBs? I don't have the most amazing lineup, but it's slowly growing. Right now these are the choices I can think of offhand: DDP DOJ, Espgaluda, Espgaluda II, Armed Police Batrider, Fever SOS, Vasara, Raiden Fighters 1, 2, and Jet, Tenkomori, and I don't know if these really count, but I have the Namco Classics 1 and 2 PCBs which have Galaga and Xevious on them among other games, with cool remixed versions.
And happy birthday to you, seattlexc!
Re: A Northwest SHMUP Meet/Tourny?
Should be making it out to this one - just be getting back into town and it will give me a chance to see Pink Gorilla. Awesome coordination, and thanks to bobbyconover/Pink Gorilla for the hosting.
Will drop a line in there with a couple requests and such.

Update from PG Thread:
marus wrote:Looks like we're picking up interest! I'm getting pretty excited!
I'm going to make a list of what people have offered to bring. This way it will be clear what we have available, as well as what further equipment we do/don't need most. (I marked items not confirmed with ?)
Equipment:
marus - JTAG XBox360, XBox360 stick
EPS21 - 21" CRT, LCD monitors(?)
seattlexc - CRT, PS1, PS1 hori stick
Vexorg - PCBs (?)
wnka - CRT (?)
I think as far as TVs go we're good (I'm not sure if there's even need for 3 CRTs, not to mention if there's room or not). EPS21, I don't think we'll need the LCDs, but lets see how things progress.
If anyone is curious, here are the shmups I'm bringing (I'll edit this posts with what everyone else is bringing too if people want):
XBox360:
DeathSmiles
DeathSmiles IIX
Dodonpachi DaiOuJou Black Label EXTRA
Espgaluda II Black Label
Ikaruga
Ketsui EXTRA
Mamorukun wa Norowareteshimatta!
Mushihimesama Futari
Raiden Fighters Aces
Raiden IV
Shikigami no Shiro III
Triggerheart Exelica
I also have some fighters if people are interested.
For the PS2, I also have that Shikigami no Shiro Visual Novel/Shmup spinoff (Shikigami no Shiro Nanayozuki Gensoukyoku) if people are interested.

Update from PG Thread
Pacific Northwest Shmupmeet!
Facebook Event Page
Pink Gorilla Website
Pink Gorilla Arcade Facebook page (includes game list)
Current list of donated equipment
General Rules:
1) Don't be a jerk
2) Treat the equipment with respect - all of the equipment is being donated by fellow forum members for us to share, so treat them as if they're your own.
3) Whatever else Bobby and the PG staff want to add - it's their arcade, and they were generous enough to accommodate us and even agreed to keep the arcade open late just for this event, so please listen to whatever they say and respect their rules.
I think as far as rules go, if you just use common sense and treat everyone with respect then there shouldn't be any problems.

And now for the big announcement: This week's tournament game will be...
.
..
...
.............................
Dangun Feveron! aka Fever SOS!
This is also the current game for this week's STGT, so those of you playing this week can show off what you've been practicing! Also, Bobby said that he'll try to get the board set up in the arcade either today or tomorrow, so you can come in and practice before Saturday.
Here are some resources to help you guys out:
shmups.com strategy thread
superplay.co-uk page
The format will be like what I posted above. Sign ups start at 2:00, tourney starts at 3:00 (I won't be too strict if you show up late and want to play, as long as we have a reasonable amount of time left - that being said, try to show up on time if you can). Everyone will play one credit and have their score recorded. After everyone has played, if there is time left we will let people do a second run if they like. Once everyone is done, everyone will be ranked based on their best score.
