Tetris Splash is pretty fun for online multiplayer.
Single player isn't so good:
- Marathon mode relies on T-spins and combos to get higher scores; you can't just go for getting as many Tetrises as you can as fast as you can like in TGM. I'm not convinced that T-spins and combos are inherently bad, but they do change the game significantly.
- 40-Line mode is simple, but fun.

You have to love the intensity of that mode, it's a total rush.
In case anyone didn't know, EA Games released Tetris as a PSNMini PSP game recently.
Though despite it being a "Mini" it's definitely good. Has several Variant games:
Origin: Traditional Tetris rules, no Gravity, but if you score a Tetris, you can use T-Spin Line clears to maintain your Back-to-Back Tetris chain.
Treadmill: Where the blocks you put down move a space or number of spaces around the matrix each time a new brick is dropped.
Gravity: aka "Sticky" Tetris. Cascade practice.
Flood: Every so often a stack of junk lines appears that need to be cleared with Cascades.
Laser: A laser beam at the top of the matrix slowly decends and you have to clear lines under the laser, any bricks sticking up and it's game over...insanely hard at level 15.
Scanner: Every so often a scanner passes by the matrix and clears every set of lines you form. I've been able to clear 12 lines at one time at higher levels.
Chill: The bricks freeze at varying levels the more you drop on them, light freeze can still be cleared, heavy freeze turns to floating junk that needs to be cleared twice to be removed. You can abuse Tetris with this game.
Magnet: Polar opposite charges are on either side of the matrix attracting blue and red tetriminos respectively...when lines clear they go directly to the wall or near it. The game says it's good for getting "Bravos" but I haven't been able to do it yet.
Flashlight: The matrix is dark and only your ghost can help you find your way.
There's some others but I forget their names, anyway, this game is fun.
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.
