I've had my TE stick since late March and so far it's seen maybe 200 hours of play. A few days ago I noticed the A button has started to become inconsistently unresponsive. At first I just chalked it up to bad coding as I was playing DDP DOJ, but I've now that I've experienced the problem with Ketsui, DS IIx and BlazBlue CS.
As far as I can tell when the button is fully depressed about 70% of the time it will register as a press, the rest of the time it will do nothing. The microswitch is kind of quiet, so I'm not sure if the issue is with the button or the electronics it's wired to.
Should open the stick and look for something in particular with the switch?
Do the buttons use a quick connect so I could swap them around for testing?
Should I speak with Mad Catz as the stick is barely 4 months old?
Or should I just say fuck it and order some Semitsu parts?
Just looking for some advice.
Anyone had button issues with the SFIV TE Stick?

Re: Anyone had button issues with the SFIV TE Stick?
I would guess it's a bad microswitch inside the button. The buttons are easily swappable in the SFIV sticks, however I would recommend just swapping the microswitch with one of the buttons you don't use as much to see if that's the issue. Once you get the stick open, you need to pop out the top half of the plastic button assembly by pressing in the clips on the side with a small screwdriver. Popping out the microswitch is even easier.

Fancy bumping into you here. (Yay DP Perma-bans)Vectorman0 wrote:I would guess it's a bad microswitch inside the button. I'll give that a try later tonight. Sounds like a fairly easy modification and the switches for the LB/LT buttons should be pretty much unspoiled.

Yeah, don't be hasty and buy Seimitsu buttons just yet. Personally I would just swap out whole buttons rather than just the microswitches but it's up to you. If the problem persists, it's very clearly a problem with the PCB and you should contact Mad Catz for a replacement.

My 360 TE has acted up a few times in this fashion. Reconnecting the USB connection seems to do the trick, but isn't exactly a fix.mannerbot wrote:Yeah, don't be hasty and buy Seimitsu buttons just yet. Yeah I was going to say, when the button in my stick died it just didn't work, period. Sounds like you have a board problem :-/

I spent a couple of hours playing Mushi Futari last night and didn't experience the problem. Kind of weird as it was going on fairly consistantly for a few days. When it happens next it'll swap the buttons around. Considering i did some moving i'm starting to think the connector may be loose.
