No analog sticks on original psx, thats the dual shock.
My solution for Consoles to Jamma.

Ah, I had heard that the digital psx pad is not good for converters. I'm going to use the psx dual shock. I got a couple, they work fine with my ps2->usb and inpin ps2->ps3 converters.monouchi wrote:No analog sticks on original psx, thats the dual shock.
Just debating whether to cut off the analog stick pcb, or leave it on. For a DC controller, I had to stabilize the analog stick inputs w/ a couple of 10k resistors, one to power and one to ground. Otherwise, it was always reading up and left.

Hm, where did you hear this? Any more info?mesmer wrote:Ah, I had heard that the digital psx pad is not good for converters.
I do have two dual shocks that I can exhange to in this mod, but the mod is working great now and I am using controller adapters for 360,DC,SNES,megadrive.
One thing I dont like though is how the 360 pro adapter is mapping the buttons.
You would think that it mapped the buttons as it is on the psx pad, but the adapter is changing place on the X360 A and B buttons.
Also, someone said that holding down START would simulate the home button on the x360.
That doesnt work on mine, maybe that works with the Dualshock?

try start and upmonouchi wrote:

Re: My solution for Consoles to Jamma.
antron: Thanks, I will try that.
Here is an updated adapter, now for us UVC fans.
UVC and Viletim connected to the padhacks.
Button 5 activated for Egret 2 Harness.
Psx controller cables shortened.
The yellow cables are waiting for a connector for the Egret 2 S connector (Button 6).

Check Here: http://shoryuken.com/f177/converter-com ... ad-181187/ for info on a bunch of converters, and which pads work or not. I haven't tried a 1st party digital controller on either of my converters.monouchi wrote:Hm, where did you hear this? Any more info?
Re: My solution for Consoles to Jamma.
PSX pads work on some, but not all PS2 games. Its game dependent, even if the game uses digital controls, I've had games that will not load unless a Dual Shock is plugged in. For this reason all my hacks are with PSOne sticks - which is dual shock compatible.antron wrote:my bad, I was under the impression that PS1 controllers could not be used with PS2 games.monouchi wrote:I am interested in that and I am playing PS2 games on it, but no games that utilize the analog stick....and I am not interested to play analog games on my cabinet.antron wrote:

Re: My solution for Consoles to Jamma.
More testing done:
Up + Start did not work for home button.
I plugged in a Psx Dualshock in the converter and it did NOT work.
My Psx controllers works with everything so far, games and different adapters.

My bad, it's select and upmonouchi wrote:More testing done:

EDIT: I just tested select and up and it works, even with a PS3 controller. That got me curious, and I did a test:
It turns out that Select + Up is the Home (PS3) button even with a PS3 controller (wired) on a PS3. This would probably let you also send the Home command with a PS1/2 controller on a PS3 (with an adapter).
