Grr. Five runs and not one into Stage 5.

Ghegs - 3,271,770 - 4-6 - PS2

Few funky things happened: I got a 1up icon in Stage 2, right before the turrets in the ground uncovered themselves. I don't know how I triggered it though, I did lose a life right before it so it may or may not have something to do with it. Never seen that one before...

Also in Stage 3 I got the "iconburst" or whatever it's called when you pick up the Max. Power icon when you're already fully powered up. 'Twas the first time I ever got it, cool.

ArrogantBastard - 2,057,510 - 4-5 - SAT

Edit: Crap. Please change the system version from PS2 to SAT. I was pretty drunk last night, and I accidentally put PS2 there for some stupid reason unexplained.

This is just my old high score, if you only want new scores, don't use it, because my latest run was awful:

alpha5099 - 4,546,840 - 5-7 - Sat

I hate the second boss, so much. I've also noticed a consistent downward trend in my scores just before I reach the second boss. My first few games, I was at the cusp, sometimes even over it, of 1 million points. Now I tend to be in the low 900 thousands. 920, 930. One game I was at about 870. I don't really know what I'm doing differently. Maybe it's because I've since tried my best to avoid all Speed Ups.

You and me both. Twice today I lost a life to the LAST bullet he threw at me before his destruction. And I had like 9 bombs in stock. If I only took two speed-ups it'd be easier to slip through the gaps but that extra 5000 pts/speed-up is too sweet a deal.

I too wonder about the scoring, sometimes I hit 1,500k (the first extend) by the end of Stage 2. Usually not until the start of Stage 3, though.

I really, really hate this game for some reason... But my friend loaned me this game, so I'm playing the hell out of it as much as possible before giving it back to him.

In case you missed my previous post where I edited my post: "Please change the system version from PS2 to SAT. I was pretty drunk last night, and I accidentally put PS2 there for some stupid reason unexplained."

I've gotten that 1UP several times during my venture into Stage 5 and 6. I don't know how that really works, but it seems random...

Hey Accutron, do you own the japanese import version of this game? If so, do you know if it has a tate mode on it? I couldn't find it for the life of me.

Okay... Fuck this game. I played some more last night, and played some more again this afternoon and I've pretty much given up on this game because of its crappy hitbox, and few other things that I don't really like about this game. I don't know why, but it just bugs the hell out of me.

At any rate, I gave the game back to my friend so I'm pretty much done with this game as far as my fustration goes, let alone trying to 1CC my first game.

Ah, why not...might as well claim my traditional "bottom-of-the-barrel" spot on as many high score tables as is humanly possible. :D

For you guys who have the Saturn version of Shienryu, do you know if it contains the extra modes that the US Playstation release (Gekioh Shooting King) has?
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

This game loops. :)

Nemo - 10,385,760 - 2-2-4 - Saturn

Since the loop is denoted as level 9 in the game, to show first round completion in my score, the first 2 is for the round, the second 2 is for stage and the 4 is for the section of stage 2. Much props to anyone else who can take down the final boss, even if you solve his pattern, it still takes some ill concentration.

This is my first 1CC!

AFXisatwin - 10,785,620 - all - PSX

It seems that the US PSX version doesn't loop. I got to the last boss with 4 lives to spare and I kept dying over and over trying to figure out his pattern. Finally figured it out on my last life!

Game came today(thanks captain ahar) and gave it a couple of hours.

IlMrm - 4,413,620 - 1-6-2 -PSX

I too got the 1up at stage two a couple of times. Not sure what happened.

For the first three stages I use the lighting, which seemed to score you a lot of points.

And there's nothing like getting hit by a pot shot with 12 bombs. :(

dpful - 3,844,520 -?- STV

Dammit, I turned off the machine and ran in here to write down my score and I forgot to check the level number!
If anyone can help, I think it was the second checkpoint over the land after the first space bit.

Fly through space, blow up a few mid size ships, fly over land, get to the checkpoint right before the 2 mid-size tanks spew streams of missles downwards at you.

JL - 12,802,820 - 2-4-6 - Saturn

I think you need to experience a certain amount of frustration before beating any challenging games. I felt it's especially true for this one. One thing mysterious is that once I picked up a '2up' item in one of the later stages and I never saw it again.

Well, here's my first time on any high-score board:

3,459,250 1-4-6 PS2

I'm going to keep playing because I'm quite sure I can get to level 5 in the next week, if I have the time.

Seven Force - 4,400,510 - 1-6-2 - PS1

Something really crazy happened during this run. At the beginning of level 3 I was fully powered and sped up, and a Shield appeared, right when I grabbed it, for some reason, several dozen powerups (weapons, power-ups and speed-ups) started spurting out from my ship. Probably got about 6-70000 points from collecting all these. I haven't been able to repeat this, has this ever happened to anyone else? I wonder what the trick is.
I should add that I got to level 3 without dying. Too bad it was all downhill from there. :D :) :? :(

Hey Zach Keene, would it be possible for you to take my score off the table?

I just got the saturn version and it is drastically different! A lot less slowdown and pretty much lots harder.

Don't take that cool score off the board! Maybe we need two tables? I've played mostly the Saturn and PS2 versions, and they seemed pretty similar.
