Is it me or is Germany too structured? The play is almost perfect, but is it predictable? Perhaps Spain has been studying them all along believing they would meet. If the gameplay doesn't fit into Germay's mold will they panic?

The only way I can see to beat Germany is to pile pressure on them - that's the only way they ever seem to crack. Against Argentina they were so in control they were virtually unstoppable, but technically England managed to level a two goal deficit in about two minutes (even if the second was criminally disallowed), and the only reason I could see is that suddenly upping the ante quickly breaks down their form.

Spain will obviously do that with their style of play, but if they dont take the opportunities when they come, they will lose out heavily to germany's counter attacking style of play.

I fear for Spain tonight. They'll need to have their tactics absolutely spot on.

Only a few hours now, excited!

Haha, off to the "Fanmeile" in Berlin...
at the last game, roughly 350.000 people were there.
Today i'd guess 400.000 easily.

Who knows who will win at this point. It's gonna be Germany Vs. Spain 2: Millionaire Fighting 2010: "This battle is about to explode! This is gonna be a match to remember!"

Germany vs. England:

"Some may say that it was luck that helped this team to win, that doesn't matter to me because the bottom line is that this team won, they just better keep in mind that luck works in many mysterious ways."

Germany vs. Argentina:

"Hey, who allowed them to join the tournament, they're too strong to compete, I mean what's up with that, someone is going to have to take that team down!"

Germany vs. Spain:

"Just look at the expressions on their faces, you can see the intensity in their eyes, one power: who can stop these devastating warriors?"

The Kraken foresaw germany to lose against spain.

Therefore, germany will lose today.

Really lousy match by Germany. Spain controlled it the entire way through. I cannot say they missed Mueller much, but at the same time Podolski disappeared for a bit too. Here's to an orange-klobbering on sunday!

Crap, missed the whole game becaus of work. I doubt that Holland will stand a chance in the final. Nice to see that a new team will win the cup at least.

Must have been a killer party ...NOT!

I don't understand why Germany didn't risk more offensive play, they didn't have anything to lose.

Okay, who should I support now? Spain is truly awesome, but I think NL deserve to win the cup more, since they've reached two finals before.

Spain vs Holland. Could not have wished for a better final.
My money's on Spain winning 2-1, with David Villa scoring first.

I have nothing to say other than this. I was screaming at the TV, hoping the Germans would grow some balls and get back into the game...

Well, at least I have the guys in orange to back now.

At work, people were split as to who would win between Spain and Germany. Needless to say I was happy with the result, but I respect the Germans, they're due another championship but keep getting cut short.

Quite the opposite, my natural football rivalry (and being ousted from the tournament by the Germans) meant the Spain victory was dreamy indeed. :)

Not sure why anyone thought that was a boring match, I thought it was riveting! Spain got their tactics just right and played some brilliant football. I didn't think Germany played badly, they were just very well defeated all round.

Wasn't that bad. They took it like a man and walked home, getting some more beer in the process.
It was a really surprising victory for Spain, after they struggled so much with Paraguay.
But deserved nonetheless.
I guess i'll root for the Netherlands now. Good luck, neighbours!

To me it seemed as if Spain observed Germany for a long time and knew exactly what they would do.
It seemed Spain parried everything.
But then against Holland, we simply have too many really really good players to lose this year.
I predict a 2-1 win for Holland (that or we may even get 3-1!)
Key is that we need to stay focussed and not like againt Uruguay where 2 defenders both walked in the wrong direction which resulted in 1-1 Tuesday.
We also need to shoot earlier. A lot of times we will simply dribble towards the goal and then we are like: OK, what now? hey why do I just not pass to that guy who i being defended by four players!

SHOOT THE DAMN BALL AS HARD AS YOU CAN TOWARDS THE GOAL IF THERE IS NO CLEAR TEAMMATE STANDING UNGUARDED!
-it might hit an enemy and go out: corner
-it might hit the goalkeeper and the ball will bounc of him and can have another shot!
-it might be intercepted by the enemy which is not the end of the world, really
-it might freaking go in!

Go holland!

Read this, great stuff: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/100701

Favorite tidbit: Important note: I want Simon Cowell to create a reality television competition for Fox called "American Striker." That's the only way we'll find one by 2014, barring Jozy jumping a level or a foreign stud miraculously defecting. And don't rule that out. Can't we find a multibillionaire sports fan to "convince" an up-and-coming striker to become an American citizen before he commits to another national team? Larry Ellison and Paul Allen: Step it up, fellas.

Second favorite, which made me think of Kernow actually: I liked Michael Davies' take on England's demise: "Americans will never completely understand how crap it is, most of the time, to be English. We might have cute accents and be good at cocktail parties. But we are mostly losers." That slayed me.
