Does the Wii have better progressive output for Gamecube games than an actual gamecube?

Hmm... I tried connecting the Wii through my XRGB and yeah, it definitely seems to look better. It's not as crystal clear as the PS2 or Saturn, but it's an improvement.

No its a LOT worse on the Wii... :/

Here are two pictures taken from F-Zero in 480p on both machines with original component cables.

GC: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e236/ ... 1277537479

Wii: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e236/ ... 1277537481

Notice the blur and shadows added in the Wii picture? Awful to say the least. The GameCube on the other hand has a pretty damn good picture :)

Okay, so now that I've got the Wii figured out more or less... what should I do with my original Xbox? I'm not sure what the best way to hook it up is, but I have composite cables right now. Obviously, I'm not going to use those.

even less a question than the Wii. The XBox outputs high quality 480p on nearly every game available. All you need is a component adapter or component cable.

I love that you answer my questions within like 5 minutes of my asking them :)

Guess I'll finally get those component cables. I've been meaning to do it for years.

Now my XRGB-3 works with scanlines on the Optoma scaler!?

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e236/ ... 1277661826

WTH? Is this because of my new TV (the Plasma Fudoh recommended a while back) or could it be because its another Saturn i'm using? I have yet to try other consoles as i'm literally blown away by how good the Sonic games looks on this TV. It makes no sense :D

I tried turning off the Optoma and XRGB-3 several times and it still works every time.

Can the scanlines be a potential burn-in danger? They are set to 175.

Thanks Fudoh for the Panasonic S20 recommendation. It seems like an amazingly good tv for my needs!

I haven't played the Saturn since i got the TV so now i'm probably gonna play it until i eventually throw up :)

You're fine with the burn-in issue. I'm using my XRGB on a Panny plasma and haven't had any issues with that at all.

It is! I would never play anything retro in 50Hz. The Saturn is Japanese and the game (Sonic JAM) is too. The blue borders are normal :)

EDIT: Well MegaDrive and Neo Geo still doesn't work. So i guess it really was the Saturn that made the difference. I still have to get a Gefen VGA to DVI scaler but for the time just being able to play Saturn is a great relief :)

I think you're supposed to for the first few hundred hours you run the TV... but I doubt you really need to. I had them for a while and then turned them off and haven't had any issues since. I'm guessing the purpose is to prevent the phosphors from aging quicker in the middle of the screen than on the edges, but as I said, it hasn't been an issue without those bars.

That's what Fudoh told me some people did after a while. Great to have you confirm it too. I might try turning them off after a few more months :)

I wonder if this thing outputs 240p:

Scanlines on Golden Sun would look awesome :)

EDIT: Oh it says right there on the page that it's interlaced :/ Will have to find me a US or JAP GameBoy Player Disc for my GameCube so i can play GBA games in 480p. The EU version only supports interlaced and it doesn't look that good :/

JAP GameBoy Player Disc for my GameCube so i can play GBA games in 480p.
you obviously need an Emotia as well. GBA Player -> Emotia -> XRGB looks really ace!!

Ah yes the Emotia :) That way i could play Mars Matrix and Giga Wing properly too. Does it accept both 480p component and VGA or do i need an adapter for component?

why would you need a Sync on Green remover in this setup ? XBox -> Emotia was the very first thing I did when I had the initial idea and gave those Emotias the first testrun. Worked fine straightly connected.

VGA only, but you can mod a D-Terminal Cube cable to VGA by just a change of wiring...

Update: I reset the unit and got back to B0 mode...any thoughts as to why B1 is not working for me?

I did what it said in the wiki

Advance>FPGA SELECT>B1 then i turn the xrgb off, turn it back on and I get mode not supported on my TV...

Also, another not so important problem I ran into was using a crt computer monitor, the on screen display from the xrgb was just fine but when I turned on my game system (in this situation an RGB modded pce duo r) the image from the system is all over the place/very messy. Any thoughts?

Quite a few possibilities. It can depend on:

- the game system connected (make sure you have an ACTIVE source connected)
- V Sync option turned on/off
- The resolution choosen in B0 mode (yes, while you're in B1 mode). Choose 640x480 or 1024x768, nothing else

I have yet to see a TV with a VGA input that does not support the XRGB's B1 mode. Check the above options!

the PCE is actually the one system which can cause the most trouble. All depending on the RGB mod in use. Again, check the V-Sync option, check the RGB terminations, check the manual AFC Setting (too high causes the whole picture to get messed up). There's are probably booster amps out there which are not compatible at all with the XRGB.

I was able to get B1 working on my CRT computer monitor with my mega drive and could not with my duo r.

Still can not get B1 working on my LCD after trying what Fudoh suggested :(

Samsung LN40A650

I just don't get it, everythng else works fine just not B1. My dreamcast through VGA is fine, and everything through B0.

I have a similar model, the LN46A950 and as you can see in the wiki almost everything works fine with it, specially B1 mode.

I believe there is an option to "auto adjust" the settings via VGA, maybe you should give that a try with games running.

...no luck, I can choose the auto adjust feature of my TV in B0, but in B1 I don't get the option to choose the auto adjust. WTF.

Doesn't matter if I have a game running or not, in B1 I can't get the XRGB's blue screen or a game image going. My TV either has a status box that says [mode not supported] or if I try it with the V lock on i just get a blank black screen and the power led on my TV flashes.
