Anyone on here own an NTSC Amiga CD32??...

Someone on the English Amiga Boards told me that I'd need a TV that could display 50Hz. Where I would buy a TV like that, I don't know.

Why not get a cheap monitor Dave? The console should work on a normal 1084 Amiga monitor, which can be had for very little money.

My current TV is only a year or two old, but I don't know how to find out if it can display 50Hz.

In the manual (if you still have it)? Or maybe google the type of tv for specifications!? A third option would be to mail the company that made the tv and ask them directly.

Being an american TV, I suspect it's not capable of it. In fact, I haven't heard of a single model of american TV that can display a signal in 50Hz.

I agree with Laydock. A 1084 or even better a 1084S would solve your problems dave. It's meaningless to drool over a CD32 for all this time just because of this.

Trust us, Dave. I had it and I could switch games to 50/60hz (if the cracker had been so kind to include the option, that is). Those monitors have absolutely no issue - you could say they're region-free

You live in Europe, where the outlets are shaped differently then they are here. AFIK, there are PAL and NTSC monitors.

I'ts not that I don't trust you guys, but before plunking down money for even this monitor, I need to know for sure.

And as far as the 1084 monitor being cheap, I have doubts after looking at this:

Dave, my 1080 had a 120/240 switch. And I'm sure it was just a matter of choosing the right cable for the outlet. When using RGB, the 60/50 hz is irrelevant.

That's not quite right, the device still has to be able to handle it. But yeah, in the case of the 1084 it is irrelevant.

AFIK, there are PAL and NTSC monitors.

Not really in a sense of PAL and NTSC screenmode but only for the power, so different outlets.

Does the 1084 feature s-video? After all CD32 does not feature RGB...

Some do (in the form of two RCA jacks), some don't. not all 1084s are created equal. But it is quite easy to get RGB out of a CD32.

Get this one, as it it also features stereo speakers:

1. 1084S-D1 stereo speakers, RGB 9 pin D/Comp $65.00

How ever, $65.00 might be a bit much, as I bought the same one in 2001 (well condition) for around 50$.

As for the rest, they should do the job too, but ask if they have stereo speakers. (I doubt it)
Othewise connect the AMIGA or CD-32 directly to another external sound output (Stereo amplifier speakers)

I looked on Craigslist today and multisystem tv's are really cheap, so I'd go that route. What the heck does "HD ready" mean for a TV?? Because I found a Sony Bravia LCD TV that's "HD ready"

And I'm doing very well, thanks for asking! I just got a job, after months of searching, at a place called Sunflower Farmers Market. I'll be bagging groceries again, but it's a rapidly growing company, and there are no union fees. Plus, they promote pretty quickly.

I'm not too happy with my current job, but I'm too lazy to start searching for a new one... I doubt I'll be staying there until pension.

I was looking for a while, after I considered going back to school, but my home situation is stressful enough that I don't want any more school, at least until I get my own place. The grocery union here in the U.S. (and also in Canada) is United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), and having worked grocery stores where they exist, they take a LOT of money out of your paycheck, and you get nothing in return. Except for the right to strike, which I could care less about. This new store I'm working at looks great; they are all enthusiastic and don't treat people like they're in kindergarten. I just went to the new-hire orientation today; the store actually opens on the 23rd of this month.
I did ask for enough time off on Sundays to go to church, and I am hoping and praying that they will give that to me, because it's not something I can go without, except occasionally on holiday weekends. The church I to go is a real community, not a place where people just engage in small talk, and then leave. People always pray for and encourage each other, and the preaching is solid.
