I was wondering if somebody would have some info about the difficulty setting for this game.
On the PS2 Namco Museum 50th Anniversary version there are three settings: 1 (default), 2 and 3.
I decided to set it in 2, since my assumption is that these numbers correspond to Easy, Normal and Hard.
My question is: how is this setting implemented in the arcade game?

Re: GD: Dragon Spirit
In the service menu there's a rank setting and you can choose from A, B or C; default is rank A. I believe that's the easy difficulty.
Re: GD: Dragon Spirit
Never tried 50th Anniversary, but if it's any help, Namco Museum Vol.5 (PS1) seems to mimic the arcade DIPs, and its difficulty goes A = Normal, B = Hard and C = Easy. Here's a screengrab. I compared Museum's DS (New Ver) to MAME's a while back, playing up to stage four in both - Museum's "A" difficulty seemed extremely accurate to MAME's. I'd test out 50th the same way.

Re: GD: Dragon Spirit
Thanks, guys.
So we'd have something like this:
1 = A (normal)
2 = B (hard)
3 = C (easy)
That's a weird arrangement.
I guess I'll have to try all of them next week to check if that's really true.

Err...I was trying out this game and I picked an item that crashed the game and sent me back to the title screen. WTF?
Re: GD: Dragon Spirit
Was it the Old Version ROM? I've read the New Version fixed some things, collision detection being one. Been mostly playing New Ver in MAME, not seen any crashes in my limited time with it.

Re: GD: Dragon Spirit
I think that's an issue with the old version. I've had it happen to me a lot. Try the new version. BTW, new version has a slightly faster speed for the dragon.

Re: GD: Dragon Spirit
The crash did happen in the new version rom. Too bad I can't remember which item caused it.
Re: GD: Dragon Spirit
Try a different MAME version, I guess. It should work in nimitz' shmupmame lagless, haven't encountered the prob in that version :/... yet?

I just confirmed the above correspondence. It can be easily ascertained by bullet speed.Kollision wrote:So we'd have something like this:

I'll be playing it on default then (1).
