So I keep passing Dai Senryaku VII in the pawn shop...

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

I'm just wondering if the game is enjoyable. I've never played a hexagonal tile based strategy game nor have I played anything with so many units. I can pick it up for 4 dollars and add it to my humble XBox collection. I about had a heart attack when I saw an XBox game with Japanese on the title. I've also noticed that the game is multi player which I think might be something innovative if it is any good. Also I noticed that there appears to be a PS2 game by the same title. Is it the same game of a spin off?

Thanks for any help. :P

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

IIRC the PS2 version is supposed to have some extra features. I've never played it myself so I can't comment much on it though. I've heard it's good though.

I owned it for a while. Along side Iron Storm on the Saturn. Way too much stuff going on, though. I'm just not a Strategy-guy.

I could ramble on about the PS2 version (Exceed) for a while, but if you go to the Valcon Games forum, you should able to find out lots. PS2 is almost the same game but with a many revisions.

The bottom line with Daisenryaku; long battles. The game has tonnes of units and maps respectively and if you don't mind your strategy games being a bit old school (as far as hex based strategy is concerned), then it's a good game alright.

Speak to jvgfanatic on there, he has a very in-depth knowledge of both Xbox and PS2. That or simply consult his brief FAQ: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/924947/46432

It's very lengthy and a bit more cumbersome than its past predecessor Iron Storm (in a nutshell, it resembles Nectaris/Military Madness with wargame-lite resource management). Multiplayer is standard TBS fare and it's doubtful you'll find someone to play against locally for such a length of time. But why fret over $4?

If I can get a couple hours out of a 4$ game, I'm usually satisfied. This one has enough to learn that you'll definitely get your money's worth.
