Try to learn your family's birthdays. :(
Or if you can't do that, sign up for a free Google account and enter family birthdays into gCal. Set it up so that you get an e-mail / sms / popup reminder for birthdays and other important dates.

Cheers, chap! I'd never tried that before. Just entering a few birthdays now. Will they stay there for next year, or are they just one-off alarm bells?

Edit: it's alright, I think I've sussed it.

Most cellphones have a calendar feature that allows you to input "appointments" with the option to repeat yearly. I've mine set up so that it rings at 12PM the day of people's birthdays. Try that if you need additional reminding.

Cheers! I've actually set reminders for the week before each one. My memory's that iffy. :P

Top tip: don't follow up a glass of rather posh cider with a can of Magners. It's like they carbonate it with dog farts or something.

If you want to have that feeling of opening DVD cases like you actually bought the thing instead of something that might be from a pirated collection, remember if you need to sell the game sometime later down the line, just slip out the art from the use case and get new game cases to put them in.
Suddenly, game box condition = like new.

or just not treat cases like shit. I don't pay particular attention to caring for boxes of cheap plastic, but most of my cases only suffer surface scratches that are only visible in bright light from sharp angles.

Here's a little tip that you probably should know, but maybe you don't:

A small flathead screwdriver works wonders in lieu of a tri-wing screwdriver, at least on the screws for a Game Boy Color.
I haven't been able to open my DS this way though, although that might simply be due to the fact that the screws on the DS are bloody tiny.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Also, when buying Canadian goods that might need a screwdriver, be prepared to purchase a Robertson Screwdriver as that type of screw is only really used commonly in Canada.

A protip from a friend I made in college that had done wayyyyy too many drugs in his lifetime. It was the wisest thing he ever said.

Do what you want to do, don't do what you don't want to do.

^^ Pretty bad advice if you take it word for word, to be successful you'll probably have to do some things that you don't want to, even for a while in some cases to reap the rewards. However, I generally do agree with this druggie statement but I'll reword it in the way I see things

When you do something that feels right, don't take it for granted - follow up and continue on that path!

When you don't feel good about something you do, try to figure out something good that can come from it - if nothing comes to mind, you aren't thinking hard enough!

And for the record, don't be so judgmental about druggies, most are losers who will never amount to shit, but there are still many extremely successful ones who know how to follow their dreams and enjoy a relatively healthy life.

My life tip is such a stupid embarrassing one: Put your car/house keys in the same place every time NO EXCEPTIONS.... I seached for mine for an hour and eventually needed to call for a ride to work... they were under a ziplock bag in one of the 5 or so places that I usually toss them - makes me feel like a real loser druggie every time this happens

Bullshit. A small minority are losers, most are unnoticeable because they're regular people.

You know how craigslist assigns a number or virtual email address to your sale? It would be possible to first enter the posting, and then watermark the sale or ID number into your photos, and then upload the photo into the sale post. Unless a scammer manages to spoof the originating email address and use it to bait victims, the photo is tied to the sale, thus preventing your pictures to be used for fraudulent purposes.

On the other hand, if you are prone to heartburn, do eat an orange, tangerine or key lime as dessert. Especially if the food you eat is bound to cause heartburn. Either the orange helps to "soften" the food in your stomach, or neutralizes the excess acid.

No one. There's absolutely nothing to support the "most are losers" mantra and pretty much every objective measure of drug, and alcohol use for that matter, shows it's bullshit.

I guess when I see the word "druggie" I think of ACTUAL druggies (cokeheads/dopeheads/oxy addicts/etc), of which NONE are successful, practically by definition. You must be thinking of like, casual pot smokers and such.

A misunderstanding. I hope.

I think the original quote I responded to suggested someone that did a lot of drugs or did them often, not necessarily addicts.

Do you use bill pay through your bank? Here's something your bank will never tell you:

They will withdraw the money from your account at a certain date. You'd think that once that happens, the money is in the hands of the utility company you're paying, right? WRONG.

What your bank simply does is print a check, put the account number of the utility or service you're paying, and put it in the mail. Which can take anything from one to seven days to arrive. And if you are paying close to the due date, your payment may arrive late. And as far as your utility company is concerned, you paid late.

Banks make it seem it's an electronic funds transfer. It is not. Save yourself paying your bank for an overpriced postage stamp, and pay the utility directly with a check or card, over the phone or online. It should either post right away, or within 24 hours.

Here's another tip, get off your ass and change the channels the old fashioned way for exercise!

Wait...that could lead to breakage of the front-panel controls and a resulting loss in value. Damnit, can't do anything right...

Or chew some papaya tablets after a meal to squelch heartburn. Works wonders for some folks.
