Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou [Arcade/PS2/X360]
Re: Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (new thread)
Holy shit, nice. Definitely going to be looking at that relatively soon, though I've still no way to play this game =C
Re: Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (new thread)
WHAT THE!
I always forget how brutal this game actually is. I was watching the replay with my mouth open most of the time. The rank surely went through the roof, but AST-PEY did a superb job. He even was brave enough to hyper the bosses, that's just too awesome. Some of the chainbreaks (especially 1-4) and deaths were more than heartbreaking.
Fantastic score, even more fantastic video - it's fantastic!
Thank you!

very nice video. but in the interests of fairness i've had to revert it back to PEY's previous score as this wasn't played on default settings

Re: Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (new thread)
i can only assume it wasn't on purpose given that he can no-miss the first loop while keeping his maximum bonus, but he's lowered the score requirements for the extends to 10 & 30 million. but he's a great player

Re: Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (new thread)
Those are the default score requirements for Master Version/while label. 20 million and 50 million are only for Black Label. Remember?jpj wrote:i can only assume it wasn't on purpose given that he can no-miss the first loop while keeping his maximum bonus, but he's lowered the score requirements for the extends to 10 & 30 million. but he's a great player
Re: Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (new thread)
And even if he would have lowered the extend scores, it doesn't matter at all!
Is playing with the remix soundtrack on, playing on non default? Are you kidding me me?

Re: Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (new thread)
Just watched the run. 1-1, 1-2, 1-5 and the first half of 1-4 were done masterfully. I think it's also the first run I see where a Western player isn't completely humiliated by the second loop, and it's a real shame White Label strips the lives off… With the risks PEY was willing to take and confidence he handled some situations with he would have definitely reached 2-5 at that skill level if not for that. And that first death threw him off rather bad, too.
Anyway, thanks for the show; I hope PEY will keep playing this game, though I guess he should rather switch to BL. :)
Out of curiosity, how was this run recorded? The picture is crystal-clear.

This run was awesome. Too bad I died at very first mid-boss of stage 1-5. Blah.

Nah, man, no one's laughing; it's a tough game ^_~
The question is: are you going to stick with it and kick its ass?

Awesome! It's my favorite Ikeda game, too :) I can't exactly say it's my favorite CAVE game because Ibara, while programmed by Yagawa (of Raizing), is still a CAVE game...and I think I like Ibara better :Papple arcade wrote:of course! my biggest setback is that my ps2 stick broke some time ago and i haven't bought a new one.m3tall1ca wrote:Nah, man, no one's laughing; it's a tough game ^_~

Shame about the stick. I never use my PS2 stick, personally (perhaps because my PS2 is broken, derp), and I still don't have a VGA cable suitable for using my supergun stick with...my supergun. So it's Saturn pad on supergun, nothing on PS2, Saturn pad on PC, and HRAP EX-SE on 360 (which I also never play ^^;).
I always found PS2 Dualshock 2s to be perfectly usable for STGs, myself, but some people can't stand them.
Good luck!

Cool! How long did it take you to get that score? You've beaten my best A-E and B-E scores by about one million points!third_strike wrote:Third_strike - 100,967,400 - A-E - 1-5 - 1561 Hit

I feel like I need to practice and practice this game - one small screwup and your whole run is toast.AKRATEN wrote:
not a great score but working on it
For some reason, the 2nd stage boss is my arch enemy.
I try and try, but can't keep the hyper chain on him w/o dying.
(wasn't mocking you - it signifies the run, which was BAD)
