Fighting gamers WANT new players? :P If anything they're even more recalcitrant and less noob-friendly (for the most part, anyway) than we shmuppers are.

Oh, for sure. That's because it's accepted in SRK for example that you shut up with dumb questions and fake strategies until you know better (originally meant to keep whining scrubs from the 90s away, hence all that emphasis on "playing to win"). But they're trying to attract more folks now with a newbie area and no more rep bars. I'm not sure about all that since honestly, I think new players should pipe down with the nonsense until they get more experience (e.g. I promised myself to not create any topics or give any advice until after I won my first tourney, which I adhered to). But new players is also good, as long as the game itself isn't too adversely affected by such changes.

I can't look at ryu's face without LOLing. probably because that's the face you make when you know you're going to get a psycho hand job whether you like it or not

Edit: bison looks really old. look at them sagging boobs and puffy eyes

Not too impressed by that intro. Wish it could have highlighted the new characters more, instead of just a solid minute of ryu and ken fighting.

any of you guys check out the series of matches that were just uploaded? pretty high caliber players, so you get a good feel for the changes. here's one of them, poongko playing dudley  . theres a whole lot more in that guys account. somebody made a playlist but cant find it.

this games going to be epic.

-overall game speed has been upped a good bit, looks like its for the better.
-focus attacks come out wicked fast now. definitely going to be a lot more useful it seems.
- new backgrounds look sweet. first match i watched on the africa stage i wasn't even watching the fight. i was watching the hippos come out of the
water to watch the fight  .
-most of the new ultras look sweet. can't wait to work on some setups with hondas atomic teabag
-new characters look fun as hell. looking forward to messing around with ibuki again. loved her in third strike. adon looks pretty solid too.

get hype!

Is this confirmed or are you speculating based on the video? I've been watching several replays and the one you linked look like it was playing too fast. Maybe it's just my imagination.

Personally I do not hope it is playing as fast as the video you linked--and if they do, hopefully there is a speed setting.

Edit: This link (if you read all the way through) seems to suggest that the game indeed runs a little faster.

Edit2: Massive list of changes that confirms there is NO INCREASE IN SPEED.

Luchadors trying to become master chefs is serious business ( :P ).

tl;dr version: Old characters got almost nothing, Ryu/Sagat nerfed, new characters (Except Adon and Deejay) confirmed for god tier.

That's not a complete list though. Sakura's entry is only about her new ultra, and we know they've also changed her ex-hk, fireballs and j.mk from other updates.

SSS and quite a few other games, yes. But then, SNK has always represented well.

There's more. A lot of the detail on the other characters is absent. For instance, I suspect guile may have subtle buffs, but the lack of it being mentioned doesn't mean it isn't true. Just from the videos it seems his slow SB is slower, which is a huge improvement for him.

some people say it runs faster, some people say it runs at the exact same speed. i'm not sure what to believe at this point. i do think it would be nice to speed it up though. watching the new videos reminded me of third strike quite a bit speed wise. that would be sick, although some of the more execution heavy characters would be a bit harder to play as. some of the stuff in that game has to be input fast as hell to begin with.

at the very least, i hope the people saying the focus attacks have been sped up are correct. as it is a lot of the focus attacks feel like they are in slow motion, and your opponent has to really screw up to get hit with one.

This game (SFIV as a whole) is going to be a lot like alpha 3. humour and fuck loads of characters. They have mentioned that they want lots of characters and they wanted to add humour for quite some time now.

Well just off the top of my head there was Blanka's return, which involved butt-scratching and fruit-dropping...not to mention R. Mika instantly summoning a turnbuckle to jump off of mid-match. I'm sure those who played the game more than me could name more than that.

R.Mika's super with the turnbuckle was silly but her character overall wasn't that ridiculous.

I guess you have a point with Blanka. He's a returning character, though.

Maybe they should have just made Pocket Fighter 2 :P

Don't forget about Cody and Edie E. The first time I saw Cody get chased around the screen and then spin kick Edie E. in the gut made me lol way harder then Blanka or Mika.

Mika in SSIV would've been Super silly, think about it. There would have been silly ASS shit everywhere! (pun alert) Way more silly ASS shit then Cassandra from SCIV could ever throw around + boobs. Cassandra would cry from jealousy

OXM UK: One of the top players, Daigo, has gone on record saying that the game is defensive because backdash is too strong and that Street Fighter IV needs guardbreak. What are your thoughts on that?

ONO: So I understand Daigo has a strategy of where he fires hadouken and attacks as soon as the opponent reacts to it. But obviously, we're not all Daigo and we can't all play like him. He's a particularly offensive player and active player but what I wanted to convey is Street Fighter IV is not just an instinctive game. It's also an intelligent game, where you have to really think what the opponent might do based on your reactions. So when you don't know what to do, just step back and think for a bit. Plan out your strategy and then make a move.
OXM UK: One of the most intelligent players says your game is a little stupid.
ONO: No it's a game of intelligence.
OXM UK: Oh, okay.

Street Fighter IV gentlemen.
