This is the time of year the lore, the magic, the accessibility of the STG is supposed to be peddled to and from gaming areas that otherwise don't focus on it. General gaming places like podcasts and forums give a brief spotlight on the shmups genre and things of the like.

If you wanna celebrate, hit up another forum; big, small, mainstream, gamefaqs, what-have-you. Start a shmppreciation thread, casually discuss or help your fellow persons revisit a game or two. Toss out Frantic, Atomic Super Boss, or Retroshoot. Share the love, 1CC culture, all that good stuff. Podcasters, now's the time to run a special segment on the genre just because you can. This is the month people all over get to hear how sweet this genre is and then they get all up in your grill about how too hard it is but you don't care, 'cause ya tell them their PS3 ain't workin' right now anyway. Educate the scene. Go play a shmup.

Hey guys. Thread necro time. As mentioned in this thread I did 4 radio broadcasts on the radio network I dj at, Radio PSI (on Starmen.net,) over the span of March in the spirit of ISM. Recently I've had access to the archives of my shows, so I've got to offer all 4 2-hour Shmup music themed radio shows... DJ'd by yours truly DJ Aquazition (my XBL tag).

If anything I think you guys could appreciate a badass playlist of shmup tunes, arrangement CDs etc. With some light talk about shmups, some info through-out and regular DJ ramblings about shooters making their comeback with the release of Deathsmiles NA.

You can witness great quotes like "...and you know, when they say shoot the core, they're talking about sperm, going to the egg, that's a shmup right there." and "R-type is like anatomy class in High School" "Two-a-plan"

These archives are in .ogg vorbis format and when loaded they load a playlist file of the songs through-out the show (at least in Foobar2K...) You can skip through the show just by selecting the various tracks in the playlist.
