no no no no, the problem is the guy on the far right has a mullet.

which is a problem with proportions, so I guess you are right.

also, why does that girl look over 13? is this even a shmup?

and what happened to the actual topic, CENSORSHIP?

In all honesty, I thought ZUN's character art in Phantasmagoria of Flower View was the apex of his work. Everything before and after that game looked lazy as sin. PoFV also had a "unique" kind of look to it, in my eyes, similar to the basis of designs for Ghibli films, for example... and decently colored/shaded/proportioned, unlike every other game he's responsible for.

supposedly he had assistance on PoFV by way of alphes, notice the artwork has a Tasofro side to it

that was an amazing blending of styles

Wow, you're right. Alright, fuck it, ZUN is consistently bad on his own. Whoever drew his characters for the fighting games should have been kept on board for character portraits. Generic animu style > shitty drunk ZUN sketches.

I don't think it detracts from the experience. If you want to see them well drawn, about 10,000 alternative versions are uploaded to pixiv every minute! Often with sexy, sexy futa.

That's a small excuse. It's a fact his art is terrible. Everyone else has proven it by drawing his shit better. If he's not going to man up and fix his games at least he can make them look pretty.

In Japan, there is supposed to be a vote to ban all loli material in Tokyo. This may change everything. All women must appear to be of age (good) this includes voice and how they dress (weird/bad).

That's great news. The artistic freedom issue is obvious, but perhaps the content producers will get the message that their current approch isn't acceptable.

If that's true, it's a great idea to move anime forward again. But it's also a horrible blow to civil liberties... hmm, tough call.

He should get whoever did Scarlet Castle to do the character art for his next game. But he won't.

Derailed thread is derailed.

How about the blood in Homura? When they first showed the game, the bosses exploded in awesome red showers of blood. When the game was released in arcades and on PS2, the blood was changed to green. I'm pretty curious why they did that exactly. Would making the blood green like that have made it more marketable to arcade ops?

I'm curious about the specifics of that legislation and what kind of material would have to be changed.

It was way too broad, it would cover any sexual content (not just explicit), involving characters who dress or sound under 18 (regardless of what age they are suposed to be, or look). It also stops the "all characters depicted are 18+", from working (taking age implied by school year etc. in preference), or that's what a translation I saw looked like.

It could ban prety much all anime and manga so far made (was way too ambiguous). Excepting some of the safest kids stuff most series contain at least one fanservice shot of a schoolgirl somewhere. Not to mention if you want to make any kind of remotly realistic drama (having kids going way passed age of consent, without having sexual relationships; not gonna happen).

Thankfully the entire manga industry protested, so it's been shelved again.

That's good to hear. Sounds like it could have been a pretty destructive piece of legislation.

It's reported that it's "on hold". They'll keep debating it, but that doesn't mean it will ever come up to a vote, depending on how much opposition it gets.

Man, first we have Australia with banning small tits, then we have the USA with stupid-ass Obamacare, and then we have Japan with banning loli fanservice.

Next thing you know, Germany will ban automobiles.

Bittersweet. Sweet in that I'm covered for whatever disease or injury that may yet befall me. Bitter in that over time, a lot of money has been deducted from my paychecks for continuous coverage left unused, money that from hindsight could've bought plenty of shooters. But that's the concept of health insurance, no?

If this happens it would make many shmups illegal in Tokyo, and effect future developement. Would we get a Muchi Pork port? Deathsmiles sold in back rooms. Triggerheart pulled from jpxbla. Booo!
