Have you messed around with Arrange yet? I'm having the most fun with this mode. It's milk-tasticI don't really like this game. There, I said it.

I'm desperately looking for a domestic copy before I order from anywhere else, so, uh...just throwing that out there.8 1/2 wrote:I don't really like this game. There, I said it. Received this today.
No idea of the score mechanics yet though just 1ccd Novice (no surprise there) and played some 360 mode.
First impressions are that it's not as good as Mushi 1.5.
Now where's that ST page........

Re: Espgaluda II
like i said before arcade is fiddly.i been thinking all week that this game could even cause a cave backlash among people who are new to their games and bought it cos of forum hype.
there's just so many different choices to make at any point in the game that it is almost like playing a normal cave game and a puzzle game at the same time so it will not be to everyones but arrange mode is great and i haven't touched black label yet so i don't see how people are complaining cos as a whole i reckon it is one of caves strongest console releases eva .if you don't like the scoring on this then look on the bright side and be happy ketsui will be here soon..

I'm glad this game is the way it is. Ultra glad. It's like this and Futari were meant to release one after the other. Futari's pretty much all twitch, and ESPgaluda II is fucking brain candy.
ED: Also IMO this destroys DS
I'd be more pumped for Guwange XBLA, Guwange fucking slays.

Seems to be a lot of hate for the scoring system ? i actually really like it ,i mean its frustrating as hell sometimes.. but you need to really spend 2-3 wks getting the hang of it but once mastered its very rewarding

Yes it is. It's not like regular ESPG2 where it's the primary key to scoring, but it's still useful and actually makes some sections a lot easier. I wouldn't worry about it too much until you've got other stuff down though.Special World wrote:Is Kakusei-Zekkaishi (sp) even really worth it in Black Label? Having the option to practice from the midbosses saves so much time. I would always get annoyed at other games for not having this because it would be extremely tedious to go through the stage from scratch just to practice a small section towards the end. Thanks Cave!

Re: Espgaluda II
I can't find the answer to my simple questions
Too many pages in this thread. So:
1- What is the default button layout on ESPGaluda II arcade cabinets? Does the cabinet have 4 buttons or 3 buttons only?
2- (This question goes for Mushi Futari too, I'll just ask it here) [Noobish Question Warning] Why wouldn't I want to play XBox 360 Mode instead of Arcade mode? What is the difference between these two modes?
3- Where is the god-damn TRAINING MODE?!

Re: Espgaluda II
1) Arcade has four button layout, you can choose between rapid fire being button 3 or button 4. (I recommend button 4 so your hand doesn't cramp up)
2) They could potentially have slight variations in how they handle slowdown, but the filtering in this game is not good, so stick with XBOX 360 mode. Arcade mode does have the gem tutorial glitch still in it though, so if you played a lot of the PCB, that might be why you'd play Arcade mode. In Futari, however, you can get Arcade mode looking pretty good. I still think the 360 mode looks better, but if you were dead set on having more pixelated sprites, you can go that route.
3) Haven't actually used it yet, but isn't it right there in the main menu?

Yes, it is.
Unlike Futari, you select the mode you want to play first, then the version you want to play. This threw me off at first too. It also adds a lot of load time =\
Futari: Black Label -> Training
EspII: Training -> Black Label

Re: Espgaluda II
got it today, additional shipping taxes made the total of 100€, now i'm really in trouble with money
anyway, i've played a credit on Arcade Novice, Black Label and Omake: this last one is the easiest by far, i'm happy to see that difficulty is adjustable just like the PS2 Cave games, it makes Novice harder than Futari novice

Yup, you're completely invincible and you cancel bullets, so you can use it to plow through stuff that would otherwise be hard. I use it on the huge ships on the second half of stage 3 for example. Seems to be extra useful for Tateha too.Special World wrote: Easier how, rushing through bullet patters?
I hadn't even really considered that.
Anyone know if Ageha is retardo strong in the Kakusei modes now too? Because Tateha got such a massive damage boost it's insane.

From what I gather, the layout can be one of these two:
[Fire] [kakusei] [guard barrier]
[autofire]
or:
[Fire] [kakusei] [autofire]
[guard barrier]
And you recommend the first layout. But isn't the second layout more similar to Futari and Dodonpachi which we're more familiar with?

i guess that second one makes a lot more sense than my layout of

I go back and forth between Galuda and Futari without a problem. It's just much more comfortable to use your thumb for the auto fire.HamidoOs wrote:And you recommend the first layout. But isn't the second layout more similar to Futari and Dodonpachi which we're more familiar with?

Re: Espgaluda II
I played quite a lot of Black Label last night, but I can't say it's grabbing me much more than the main game. I played several games over a period of a few hours, and had one where I took it all the way up to the final section of health on the final boss in stage 6. That thing just NEVER dies, and I think I'll have to get there with at least three lives left to pull off the 1CC. The trouble is that the rest of the game is just fall-asleep easy seeing as your regular shot cancels bullets AND you have an invinciblity meter. That's one set of training wheels too many to keep my interest, and as of this morning I'm not feeling the will to go work on that clear.

I use the 2nd setup on my blast city, I use the same setup for EspGaludua I
[Fire] [kakusei] [autofire]
[guard barrier]
I tried with the default arcade layout but I am too used to Futari, DOJ and pretty much any other game with an auto fire button.

Re: Espgaluda II
I had previously said that the Arcade mode looks worse than DOJBLEX on a CRT, but I was completely wrong. I thought I had turned smoothing off and I hadn't.
This looks just as good as Deathsmiles' arcade mode. No scanlines, but the pixels are nice and sharp.

Re: Espgaluda II
True story that has nothing to do with Espgaluda II: I was at a shmupmeet and we were testing a Neo-Geo stick being played on the Dreamcast via a converter box. Testing on Triggerheart Exelica, the controls worked out to something like A being bomb, B being fire, and Start (all the way in the top right corner) being grab.dmauro wrote:o_0Special World wrote:i guess that second one makes a lot more sense than my layout of
