Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
Saw the thread about the shmup mini but haven't seen one for the actual main game.
Amazon ships it late so I still don't have my copy yet. For anyone else, how's online? I hear it doesnt use FC which is a relief.

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
ordered my copy from zavvi.com as it was only £17.95 ~ $29. I dont live in england though so I expect it to be here late next week
Not using friends code? That would be sweet as I think friends codes for online is the worst thing ever. None of my friends like fighting games so its hard to find local/online matches on wii

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
Did not know this site. Definitely one of the best priced for Europe. How are the shipping costs though ?1up wrote:ordered my copy from zavvi.com as it was only £17.95 ~ $29. I dont live in england though so I expect it to be here late next week![]()
EDIT : well the site says "free delivery on everything". Hope it is not just UK. I dont like how the site requires you to give your card number for inscription though...
EIDT again : well, free delivery is indeed for UK only. It asks 1.15 euros more for delivery to France.

I fear Wii remote controls are cracked in this game. I kept loosing against people always going for special-special-special-hyper combo-special-special etc... Which, in terms of remote input is : Forward+A, Forward+A, Forward+A, Forward+A+B, Forward+A, Forward+A etc...
Cool.
Anyway, I'll enter your code in my list. Dont have mine here though...Which country you're from ?

I really want this, but I'm still in the middle of getting used to playing SFIV with a joystick, so I've got my work cut out for me

I play using the Hori Fighting Stick for Wii.
Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
My friend got this game and the Mad Catz stick recently.
He wants to upgrade it to a Sanwa stick - should I be getting the normal JLF-TP-8T, or the JLF-TP-8YT-SK with the rearranged pinout from Lizardlick?
It wasn't a problem when I modded my SFIV SE with a LS-32-01 because I could change the pinouts myself, but can anyone confirm whether the pinout was fixed for the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom issue of the stick? My friend isn't as electrically savvy so it would be best if I could order something that would be a direct drop-in replacement without any extra fiddling.

Do some looking around the SRK tech forums. Those guys will mod anything that resembles a joystickiatneH wrote: - should I be getting the normal JLF-TP-8T, or the JLF-TP-8YT-SK with the rearranged pinout from Lizardlick?

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
The pin out on both joysticks is identical as they both use the same TP-MA PCB. The difference is PCB orientation. If you buy the TP-8T you will need to rotate the mounting plate 90 degrees (4 screws, very easy).iatneH wrote:My friend got this game and the Mad Catz stick recently.

Since you don't need the wiring harness, it really comes down to if you want a stick with a shaft cover, or with the chrome exposed. The SK in JLF-TP-8YT-SK stands for Shaft Kit.
Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
Thanks Alec, that's just what I needed to know. I just need to wait for my friend to tell me what colour he wants and I can place the order.

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
The other cool fighting game to get on the Wii is Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus. I use a Hori Fighting Stick for the Wii as well. This particular Wii fighting title has support for widescreen TVs with the optional Wii component video cables. Bought both official Wii Component Video cables and the Monster Game branded Wii component video cables...the Monster branded one is quite good for the $$$ spent on it. You get what you pay for in the end, of course. You can find the Monster Game branded Wii component video cable set at Target for a mere $29.99 USD nowdays. After reading about both JPN & USA region Wii consoles having RGB/Scart support removed, tis a shame that only the Euro Wii consoles have RGB/Scart support included from the get-go.undamned wrote:Finally got a wii and this game. Encountered the danged GGXXAC+ bug on my USA region copy & had to delete the old Wii memory save of it and do another fresh memory save. Works 100% the second time around. Plus if you try to resize the original screen parameters, and save it, the next you reboot it up, you'll get a black screen. Best to leave the screen settings at default to avoid getting into this little known black screen bug. Other than these two minor issues, GGXXAC+ is a solid fighting title on the Wii platform. Even comes with a cool GGXXAC+ OST packed in as a bonus!

Yeah, I actually just ordered Monster wii component cables off amazon.com for ~$22 shipped
I'm curious how much better it looks than composite, lol.

The jump from composite output to component video is a considerable one indeed. Wise choice to go with the Monster branded Wii component video cables, UD. Plus you can still use all those cool Gamecube games that have progressive scan support with the Wii when using optional component video.

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
Just remember to turn on Progressive Scan mode from the Options Menu on your Wii. Also for GameCube games, holding down B (the red button) during the startup of a GC game should bring up an option to select progressive scan (if it hasn't do so automatically already. All 1st party and most later 3rd party GC titles support P-Scan).

$5 on Monoprice for a 6 footer:

Monster is pretty well-known for charging WAY too much for cables. I'd stay clear of them.

Not to say that those can't get the job done, but Monster goes overkill on teh shielding so when somebody drops an EM bomb on the city I will still get clean video signal from my battery-backed/Faraday-caged Wii system.kengou wrote:My bad. $4 for a Wii one:

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
It's your money. No doubt they do have quality shielding, if you value that. In terms of the signal quality, several websites have done comparisons and found no appreciable difference between cheap cables and Monster cables (despite Monster's advertisement to the contrary) and that includes their $80 HDMI cables and what-have-you compared with $5 cables. In general their cables tend to be very overpriced.undamned wrote: Not to say that those can't get the job done, but Monster goes overkill on teh shielding so when somebody drops an EM bomb on the city I will still get clean video signal from my battery-backed/Faraday-caged Wii system.

Not to mention too damn big for a lot of TVs input jacks. Plugging in and unplugging my monster ps2 component cables is painful.kengou wrote: In general their cables tend to be very overpriced.

At least they were less than five bucks.

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
Any piece of crap wire can carry a signal to your TV in a controlled environment. I watched some "big reveal" on TV where some technician compared 3 different HDMI cables including Monster and some $5 one and showed that they successfully transmitted the same data. Well of course it did! A true test of what you are paying for is if, while you were sending data, you bombarded the cable w/ all sorts of electrical noise (running a vaccum cleaner motor next to it is an easy test). Good shielded cable signal won't suffer. Poo cable signal will distort.kengou wrote:It's your money. No doubt they do have quality shielding, if you value that. I'm not saying the cables you linked to are poo (I've never used them), I'm just saying, you pay more for Monster because you can be sure they aren't poo. If you really want to talk signal integrity, talk with Fudoh. He judges empirically, not by google.

Just go get the Official Nintendo component cables if you're that concerned.undamned wrote:Not to say that those can't get the job done, but Monster goes overkill on teh shielding so when somebody drops an EM bomb on the city I will still get clean video signal from my battery-backed/Faraday-caged Wii system.kengou wrote:My bad. $4 for a Wii one:

But if I were you, Monster's is good deal at $22. Dunno is a place like Radioshack might offer something better for a lower price or if they even have their own brand of Wii component cables, but as for me, I got the Official ones at $30 and they pretty much did the job. Muramasa looks sweet and sharp.
I plan on getting those VDigi cables in the long run, but I've also heard there is a cheaper solution to use the VGA inputs of your display, and one that is also compatible with non-progressive scan titles.

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom UAS
Can a Classic Controller Pro AND a Wiimote it's plugged in be used as two separate controllers? You know, by two players locally.
Does it support 'Cube controllers? I've got a pair, and two DualShock-to-GC/Wii adapters.
CCP being a Wiimote extension and the cord's meagre length keep boggling my mind. I hope Capcom doesn't owe Nintendo pimping any more controllers than I already paid for.

Yeah, it supports 'cube controllers but if you have them plugged in, you can only use them and nothing else.
I don't think the Classic Controller and its host Wiimote can be used as separate entities - there's a Wiimote and nunchuck configuration as one controller so I presume the CC method goes down the same sort of lines.

Oh dear. Well, at least local multiplayer mode should be doable with the gear I own.
I barely need a vs fighter, but it's one of very few Capcom games released in recent years I feel the publisher deserves money for. To think they rocked so hard last gen...

Get yourself one of these:

I got mine from HMV for £20
The lever is mediocre but the buttons are great, they feel like Sanwa but have a little more resistance which is a good thing. You can replace the lever with a Sanwa in about a minute w/o any soldering.
Great for the many virtual console shmups and arcade games as well.
edit: I didn't see that it was already mentioned as I skimmed the topic, still it is relevant enough

I definitely need to get the Tatsunoko stick one of these days...
and I paid $35 for the official Nintendo Gamecube component cables years ago, so $22 for some Monster Wii cables sounds like a deal to me.
