Is the trailer on XBL the same one that's on the website? I haven't gotten a chance to look yet and it looks like I probably won't have time to look today either...

Probably, the one on XBL is the same as the one posted on YouTube

I'll admit I was really hating on Deathsmiles 2 after only seeing some crappy youtube videos. The first game is what made me break down and buy a 360 and it did not disappoint. This new trailer looks a little bit better, but still makes me shake my head. I know there have been a few revisions of DS2 and I'd be willing to bet that they are going to do everything they can to make the 360 port as refined and complete as they need to for it to do well. As with any shooter, as long as the level design is interesting I'll be happy.
Same here, where the 3D and slightly corny x-mas styled theme doesn't bother me. The one game mechanic I think should be removed in lets say a Black Label mode (if they decide to add it at all in the game/dlc) is the bullet milking. Its like essentially endless power mode in all those vids. I haven't played DSII, but it looks critical to scoring and really doesn't make the game look very challenging, since you're bullet canceling so often. Will still probably pick it up though.

That alone makes this Cave's best game ever.

The only thing about the game that bothers me are the animations. They look too stiff and simplistic. The ones in the first game were much better. Odd that they couldn't just transplant them into the sequel.

I'll most likely be getting this, but I wish it wasn't coming out so soon. Senko no Ronde DUO and Ketsui come out a month earlier, and that's just not enough time to enjoy it all.

I would rather have Daifukkatsu coming out first. DS2 could have waited IMO.

Some of the 3D backgrounds don't look too bad- but the larger bosses (e.g. the giant reindeer) are ugly as sin.
While DS2 might play decently, Cave should've just gone with 720p pre-renders for something more in line with their 360 port of DS1.

Even going the BlazBlue route (backgrounds 3D BUT sprites 2D) would've been fine.
If there's another sequel to Dodonpachi on the Cave PC system, I hope it doesn't go all realtime rendered polygon (damn, that's a terrible thought).
Kinect? KIN NOT.

So let me see here...

A) Aksys licensed Deathsmiles for the US market.
B) Cave makes Espgaluda II region-free, then announces that it is the last region-free game.
C) Cave announces Deathsmiles II for Xbox 360.

A + B + C = Aksys licensed both Deathsmiles AND Deathsmiles II for the US market.

/end speculation

I would have guessed this would their next release because it makes sense that Aksys would also want this for localization. I'd rather see some Yagawa stuff though.

I'm excited! love the cover art too.

Can't believe all the cave love the 360 has been getting. And so little time between releases!

LOL let's hope M2 has silently been porting DFK and MMP behind our backs. Maybe 5PB will tackle Ibara Black Label and CAVE will do Pink Sweets in house.

Better scenario, Arika has been porting DFK behind our backs!

QFT. Pink and Pork for everyone, please!

I'd like to see Daifukkatsu as well, but since a Black Label has just recently been released, I don't think we'll get a port until the BL has had its full run in the arcades.

I don't want a DFK BL port. I would be happy with just a DFK port and then maybe BL added as DLC later.

It fits with the gruesome ingame artwork then. This is one hell of a ropey looking game.

Yeah, I know. I haven't gotten a chance to play any of his Cave stuff yet, and it'll be awhile before I can afford to do so, but it'd be nice to know he's doing some new stuff.

Regardless, more ports are definitely a good thing.

i'm not excited by this at all. i've got a full run of 4.0 that i've watched a couple times and the whole game just looks like an ugly boring mess. every time a decent number of bullets get on screen they all get canceled and your score shoots up 10 million points. if it comes to the usa for $40 i might consider it, but i'm definitely not importing this.

I predict that the next Yagawa game you'll see on 360 will be DFK BL.

I don't know- RAM could be a problem, just like it was for PS2 Ketsui. The DC does have a 200 MHz SH4, but it has less system RAM than PS2 (DC 16MB vs. PS2 32MB). DC does win on VRAM however (8MB vs. 4MB).

Good God!

That is horrible. I'm a cave fanboy and would buy damn near anything they released, but that preview video was horrendous. I would have never guess that came from Cave.

I'm still in shock. What I had previously seen in relation to DSII, I was wondering why most of the forum was bashing it. I question this no more.

Most of this forum is also basing their opinion 100% from youtube videos as well. The 2nd half of that PV was pretty bad though I'll agree.

The game is actually quite fun though, granted at the time when I tried it out I hadn't had much experience with DS1, but my first impressions of it was that it did seem better than DS1 gameplay wise.

I feel sorry for anyone who's going to disregard this completely just because of the graphics. Surely this community is better than the mainstream drivel that believes graphics = makes a game good.

Graphics don't make a game, but they can definitely help break it. Who wants to look at shitty backgrounds and lame bosses the whole time you're playing, even if the game is decent? If the game were really good it would be easier to overlook, but it seems like most people that have played it only say it's decent at best. I'd like to give it a shot, I'm just not sure I want to spend $70 - $80 to import it.

Will the game also run in 4:3 (without black borders of course)?

It is kind of unfortunate the only way you can try it, besides being in Japan and trying it at some arcade, is plunking down a decent bit of cash to import it. I know I've been burned by importing a game clearly not worth its price (thanks OtomediusG!) but unless Cave messes this up somehow (not likely analogous arcade --> PC hardware) this'll be worth it.

Cave should get the demo treatment for their games on xboxlive like any other big title does. I do wonder if that's Caves decision or microsoft isn't letting them.

Ho damn, Follet's coming back! And her breasts seem even larger than before! 8)

I can't wait to get my hands on this game. Aside from the PS1-era 3D, the game itself looks fun as hell to play, and if it's only half as good as the first game it'll still be a good game. Whiney graphics whore better stfu and play the new Final Fantasy, I heard that game's sweet.

What's the frame rate of DSIIX? Can anybody comment? I think that visually the game is underwhelming, but if the movement is smooth (60 fps), it'll redeem itself a bit.

I don't want to write this off, because DS is truly amazing to me. I wouldn't be so turned off if it was just basic 3d graphics provided it showed a continuation or evolution of DS style gameplay. But that promo video showed gameplay, to me, that looked very amateurish and not even close to the usual cave style. I'm all for variety in the gameplay department. This video looked like a beta version. Youtube videos display a bit more hope to me.

I have a feeling in my gut, that comes 5 years from now, this will be the cave shooter worth the most in the 2nd hand market of all the 360 releases due to everyone passing on it.

There's a trailer on the official website that runs at 59.94 fps (NTSC standards are crazy that way, you know), so I think you're good.
